Picked this up in HMV's big sale today. Lower tier Arnie I suppose, but I've always had a fondness for Raw Deal. Artwork is naff mind.Attachment 244075

I've had quite a bit of stuff turn up within a 24 hr time period (that's highly unusual for me). Yesterday evening, a Clerks 3 blu-ray and a 10 disc Mad Max 4K UHD/blu-ray set was delivered by Amazon (luckily Mad Max was one of the corrected sets with an intact lossless track for the second film).

And this morning, Fed Ex delivered the American 4K UHD/blu-ray sets of Four Flies On Grey Velvet and The Five Days.I was surprised to receive this package as yesterday the tracking info was saying it was in Memphis! Also I'd previously received a Fed Ex email stating delivery for next Wednesday.

The last day at work can be ... interesting tbh. Luckily, we got very few donations today, which meant we could concentrate on restocking for the 4th (long weekend!!) when we reopen.
Anyway. One box we got contained a few dvds, which included a slightly battered looking One Foot In The Grave set (thin covers). Whilst the first 3 series were fine, the last 3 weren't , 4th was just missing, 5th, one disc just may have snapped whilst they tried to take it out the first time ahem, 6th was ok after a good clean but the Xmas Specials disc was scratched to buggery. So now I have all of OFITG (got the missing ones in a sale in WH Smiths).

My review of The Appointment intrigued you did it?

if so it's really nice to know that what people say about films on here may influence others into checking out movies they haven't seen before.

iank 3rd January 2023 03:07 AM

Yes it did. :santadance:

Interested to find out if you think there's a sound issue with The Sex Thief, Dave.

Dave Boy 4th January 2023 02:24 PM

Yep, that's the first film from the set I'll watch and report back.

Just a word of warning though. If you have dvd versions of Bridge and Britain you might want to keep hold of them for the mass of extras which aren't on the Blu's.

These versions.

Popped into Cex and spent some credit at lunch time. A couple of nice finger marks i've managed to photograph around Van Damme's chin. Must be mine as i wiped the cases as i always do when i got home.

J Harker 9th January 2023 07:34 PM

I had a quick nose in CEX as I was passing today. Found a virtually mint copy of Arrows limited edition Vengeance Trails Boxset for £20.
I'm really hoping it will still be there tomorrow as I've got a few things I've been meaning to trade in. Otherwise I'll be kicking myself for not just grabbing it while I was there.

Justin101 9th January 2023 09:17 PM

Just got back from my Christmas break to a little pile of deliveries, some Arrow bargains from just before Christmas.

Got Alan Clarke at BBC for Christmas and I bought Bong Joon Ho from Fopp.

I saw in Cex yesterday they had several of the Doctor Who: The Collection limited editions in stock in mint condition. So after scrabbling round for some discs for extra credit (Farewell Death Screams) i got it today. Plus Pitch Black from the excellent Mr. B.

Justin101 10th January 2023 08:53 PM

From the Network sale and it arrived very fast! Lovely and a tenner for the lot.

So I went down today with a bunch of old dvds and video games that have been gathering dust. And I managed to get enough to bring this down to £7. The discs and case/box are near immaculate but annoyingly the booklet and poster wasn't included. For £7 it still seemed silly not to get it but it is annoying.
The guy at CEX said they don't worry about extra bits like that being there when people trade stuff in. Stupid.Attachment 244273

I've taken stuff with slip covers on them to trade and have seen them scan the barcodes and take the slips off and put them in the bin, it's literally crazy...

J Harker 11th January 2023 03:58 PM

I sort of see that when it's a standard release that just happens to have a slipcover, then to them it's neither here nor there. While it's not a mentality I share.
But when you're talking about supplemental material that literally is what makes a limited edition, limited then it just seems mad they don't care.

I'd probably not have bought it if it wasn't complete. I really wanted Bava's Black Sunday which was down to £8 and a bargain a while ago but the cover was a CEX reproduction so wasn't interested.

Makes any sell on value reduce dramatically.

Must admit my local store are very good about selling things complete usually.

I wouldn't have touched a reprinted cover. And I wouldn't have paid the £20 they wanted. For £7 I was willing to take a punt. It's a blind buy anyway.
I'm hoping in due course I may be able to pick a replacement booklet up from ebay.

I have a love hate relationship with Vengeance Trails. I'd love it and it clearly hates me.

I ordered a copy from Amazon for a bargain price. Then told a mate about it who also ordered it. He got his copy two days later and i got an email apologising saying they no longer had it in stock and couldn't get anymore.

Worked out at £1.75 a film. Even without the booklet and posters it's hard to argue with that price. Granted I'd traded some rubbish in.
