Rik 1st August 2011 06:02 PM

Recent additions to my dvd collection in the last fortnight:
Dawn of the dead(Arrow)
Day of the dead(Arrow)
Island of Death(Arrow)
The Card Player(Arrow)
The Stendhal Syndrome(Arrow)
City of the living dead(Arrow)
Phantom of the opera(Robert Englund R1 MGM)
Dead Snow
New York Ripper(Blue Underground)
Living Dead at the Manchester Morgue(Blue Underground)
Unhinged(for 75p from CEX)

Just waiting on House By The Cemetery(Arrow) to arrive any day now, and out of all the above the only disc I've watched is Dawn with the Romero's/Savini commentary track on, I think I need to ship the wife out on the piss with her mates for a night so I can have a movie marathon when the kids are in bed!

That's a lot of Arrow discs, Rik! Are you looking to buy all the Arrow Video titles?

The Reaper Man@Cult Labs 1st August 2011 06:25 PM

I watched THE ADJUSTMENT BUREAU on Saturday night.
Another Phillip K. Dick adaptation which is a refreshing change in a world of bloody remakes.
Originality will always be welcome.

The Reaper Man@Cult Labs 1st August 2011 06:28 PM

Maybe not all of them, but I am looking at getting all the Argento ones, The Beyond(once the prologue issue is sorted out), A Bay of Blood and the Demons when they are released. I'm quite a late starter with my Arrow collection as I already own most of these titles from other companies, but as soon as I unwrapped Dawn & Day(presents from my wife for my birthday) I knew I had to double dip on lots of my collection, as long as they keep up with the quality of releases, I'm sure I'll keep buying!

I forgot about Martin and Vamp! Yeah maybe I am collecting them all ha ha

pedromonkey 1st August 2011 08:16 PM

got some things in the mail today and picked up one from work...

Spaghetti Westerns Collection
-Django
-Bullet For The General
-Keoma

Planet Of The Apes Collection - Blu (early Bday pressie from my brother)

Gattaca - 3.00 new from blockbuster.

antmumford 1st August 2011 08:17 PM

Has anybody else had crap preorder service from thehut.com? Ordered Hobo last week and considering it came out today they still haven't posted it yet :'(

PaulD 1st August 2011 09:12 PM

I'm in exactly the same position. They're not known for being too quick with pre-orders. I seem to remember people on here having the same problem with Zavvi with Almost Human.

nekromantik 1st August 2011 09:21 PM

you should avoid any of the hut group which inc sendit, the hut and zavvi.
they aint very reliable and very slow!

Nosferatu@Cult Labs 1st August 2011 09:23 PM

Their prices are extremely competitive and they occasionally ship things within an hour of the order being placed.

I'd have thought Obsession would arrive a day earlier than Almost Human and really hope it's not got lost in the post.

I'm surprised - I have never had any problems with Play. Obsession came today incidentally; strange that the order I made the day after arrived 2 days earlier but can't complain really.

The Reaper Man@Cult Labs 2nd August 2011 06:00 PM

Christ, did Blue Underground do a job on THE NESTING or what?
Absolutely incredible!
After years of watching fuzzy vhs and vhs quality transfers, this is the bizz.

Even fonder of the film now than I was.

Reccommended.

My Synapse VAMPIRE CIRCUS arrived today.:woot:

The Reaper Man@Cult Labs 2nd August 2011 06:02 PM

It's not bad actually, I quite enjoyed it. It's mostly a cast of unknowns, but they all do a first rate job. It's more of a character study of the 3 new inmates rather than an out-and-out brutal prison drama. The violence is stark and horrific, for sure, but it's not really the sole focus of the film. Watch it, I reckon you'll like it.

I already seen it :)
and loved it

I do agree its more of a character study but in terms of it being a clone of Scum I cant comment as I not seen Scum.

I've just received my limited edition Hardboxes of Twins of Evil (with a pair of glow-in-the-dark novelty fangs) and Sleepless. They look very cool and I'll hopefully get some photos up in the Show Us Yours thread today.

Great selection of DVDs, enterthehero.

Prompted a post by bizarre_eye, I went to the Eureka website and couldn't resist going to the limited stock section, where I ordered the following Masters of Cinema DVDs:

Prisoner of Shark Island
Gandahar
Abhijan

I haven't seen any of them, but I am prepared to take a punt on anything which has been given the Masters of Cinema treatment.

I'd never seen a Critters film till i bought the box set a couple of years ago. All the films are great fun and at around a fiver, superb value for money.

Nosferatu@Cult Labs 3rd August 2011 06:25 PM

I thought it was funny when I first watched Critters 3 and saw the extremely young Leonardo DiCaprio in his very first feature film. From such humble beginnings...
