It was at this time that he arguably became Britain's most widely known medium and was described as "the sexiest man in Spiritualism". He worked on the show for six series until his departure in 2005. Acorah claims that he left the show to pursue other projects although the show's presenter, Yvette Fielding is reported to have said that he was asked to leave after Ciarán O'Keeffe, a parapsychologist for the show, fed him misinformation to which he later responded during an investigation, presenting himself as being possessed by the spirit of a fictional character, which the Fielding and the programme makers to question Acorah's credibility. Acorah said he was possessed by the spirit of a man called Kreed Kafer. In a later interview the programme's parapsychologist, Ciarán O'Keeffe, said that the character was a fabrication he invented, and an anagram of "Derek faker". O'Keeffe had fed this name to Acorah prior to the programme, and he had subsequently repeated it during filming.[6] In a separate interview, the show's presenter and executive producer Yvette Fielding said "Unbeknown to us, Ciaran O’Keeffe had suspicions about Derek and decided to plant some information to see if it would be repeated. He left a piece of paper around with the name ‘Kreed Kafer’ on it and said, within earshot of Derek, that he was a nasty South African jailor. When we started filming, Derek decided to get possessed by this fake person. The name is actually an anagram of Derek Faker. We tell people everything is real, then it turns out he was a fake, so he had to go." She added "I was more angry than anything. I was upset that someone we considered to be close could do that.""

That is brilliant! for the definitive commentary/parody of such mediums the South Park episode The Biggest Douche in the Universe is highly recommended.

I thought this was a different thread for some reason. I didn't realise the "What films have you purchased recently, or are going to purchase? thread was the one drifting off-topic - if I had i would have shut up a few posts back as this thread is always in use (and for some reason I have no issue with smaller, less-popular threads going off-topic a bit)

ANYWAY

:focus:

today I bought Kill List and Blue Valentine on bluray from That's Entertainment in their 2 for £5 dealy. Woo!

Catriona MacColl in 'City of the Living Dead'?

Next you'll be saying that the film was fictional, and not a documentary!

But then I saw Signs and Small Town Folk, so Highlander is only third worst now!

I've just done a pic post of Castellari's The Big Racket on the film stills thread.

A brilliant film and always a bargain on Amazon.

That was the first Castellari film I saw and it is indeed brilliant. Shame about the English dub though.

I've never seen The Big Racket, but I have pre-ordered the Blue Underground Midnight Movies:Action set with the three Castellari flicks in it, including The Big Racket.

23rd Century and mastered directly from the old UK VHS.

Studio Canal/Optimum apparently hold the UK rights.

(btw I hate the title MARSEILLES CONNECTION)

It just tries to rip off The French Connection which was set in Marseilles.

I love a bit of drama.

Now always liked Derek, only to mock. In the same way I found Jeffrey Archer's Prison diary funny.

Well...

All this talk of Derek Acorah and Most Haunted reminded me that I did purchase "Ghostwatch" on dvd this year to replace the copy my friend has had on "loan" since I first bought it when it was first released. Always good to pull out on Halloween.

Ghostwatch was great! Genuinely scary at the time.

I'm undecided whether I like High Crime or Street Law more. Heroin Busters is definitely my least favourite of EGC's crime films.

I was petrified at the time, it was just before I really got in to horror. I flicked between it and whatever was on ITV, it really scared me but fortunately I watched the credits otherwise I would have been up all night!

Plenty of awful people in it. But in the case of Ghostwatch it makes it work, I think.

It is the only way I would willingly watch anything with Craig Charles, Sarah Green or Mike Smith...

Me neither. No biggy, but this packaging was really silly. A homeless guy just knicked it out of my bin and has bedded down for the night.

Best Buy had these and a few other blu-ray steelbooks on sale last week for $14.99 each, This week the same steelbooks are on sale for $9.99 each and the fact I also received a twenty dollar tip helped sway me into this purchase.

Now just need to pick up a blu-ray player ,which I plan on doing once I get married.

You're not a fan of Red Dwarf then?!

I've never seen a single episode of Ghostwatch, so don't know what I'm missing.

No, I've never liked Red Dwarf.

Ghostwatch was a one off mockumentary ghost horror TV film/play that caused a bit of a kerfuffle (á la Welles's "War Of The Worlds") back on Hallowe'en night in 1992. Well worth tracking down and watching. People were genuinely terrified and thought it was real!

You must check it out on Youtube. It was a one off, BBC mockumentary television show, using popular presenters and stars of the day. A lot of people thought it was real which was the amazing thing. It aired on Halloween 1992, there was a lot of controversy after it aired, a lot of people took it to be real and sadly there was one reported suicide. I would encourage you to check it out, although it looks ropey by the standards today it was really a special TV occurrence.

So i was out at a shopping center seeing Dark Shadows for the second time with a friend, and i thought id pop into my local JB Hi Fi, and i picked up the Army Of Darkness Necronomicon for $40!! :high5:

The books fits perfectly with the shape and style of the other 2 once out of the box. The pages are great and in the tradition of the others. The set is essentially dual format, with the Theatrical Blu Ray, Theatrical DVD, and the Directors DVD. Absolutely thrilled to have this.
