I really liked Splice. Plus I got it for the bargain. Price of £2, which makes it the second cheapest Blu-Ray I've ever bought!

The Day the Earth Stood Still is one of my favourite films. I refuse to watch the remake. Why anyone would want to remake such an incredible film is beyond me! I've always thought that only average or bad films should be remade, that way they could be better, but The Day the Earth Stood Still is nearly flawless!

I haven't seen A Clockwork Orange yet. My sister recommends it, which usually isn't a very good sign, but I've wanted to see this for years! Kubrick is one of those directors who has made some incredible films, but also some shite. I hope this is in he former.

Splice was the only film i've ever seen where i correctly predicted every turn the story would take ages before it happened.

That is so not a good thing! :tsk:

I'm weird in that I'm one of the few who also actually somewhat enjoyed Splice, but it's nowhere near as good as the director's previous work like Cube for me. The Day The Earth Stood Still and Casablanca are great classics either way. A Clockwork Orange is probably my favourite Kubrick possibly next to Barry Lyndon; saying that, I've enjoyed every film I've seen from his filmography.

Barry Lyndon, The Killing and Paths of Glory are my favourites! The Shining makes me want to cry, because he raped the book!

I got twenty minutes int The Dead Next Door before turning it off. The acting was piss poor... And I sometimes like piss poor acting! This takes it to a whole new level! The best part of he film is the DVD cover.

He had to rape the book to get the "I Filmed the Apollo Landings for NASA" conspiracy theorists to fill up YouTube!:)

They also sell US dvd's.
I even bought a HK dvd from them (maybe Tai Seng imported that one in the US?)

bdc 2nd October 2013 06:12 PM

Demdike and me had a little chat about golden age Italian gothic horror (and the various dvd releases),resulting in this arriving today.

Now I finally own the two US dvd versions (both are slightly different) of this one. ;)

Those are all fantastic selections M. I've been waiting for the BFI Phantom of the Opera for ages now, and many times I almost pulled the trigger on the Park Circus Blu for that gorgeous cover...

Thanks. This lot should keep my bank account fairly busy until Christmas, although no doubt there will be some additions added before then, too!

I sense your sarcasm in respect to Park Circus' artwork choice ;) I too was less than enthused by their choice of artwork for this one. BFI have done some additional remastering too, so I'm very much looking forward to seeing the end result.

Wes 3rd October 2013 07:47 AM

I must admit I kinda ignored Grindhouse's release of Corruption, a film I hadn't previously heard of, but after reading some of the reviews I'm definitely intrigued...

No, it contains:

- 100 Minute Non-Horror Hard Version (Edited)
- Erotikill (71 Minute Horror Version)

So the hardcore scenes are not present.

Wes 3rd October 2013 08:18 AM

This stuff is always nice to have but I heard that a lot of the hardcore inserts added to Franco's film are pretty tawdry... I must say I wish I picked up the soft version of Thriller rather than the hardcore version...
