Went into a used DVD store on the weekend and picked out 9 movies and got to counter and the clerk asked me if checked out the discs.I thought he meant for scratches and such but he meant to see if the discs were still in the cases and....8 of the cases were empty.I did manage to get a copy of TEENAGE CAVEMAN though.

I really should have started collecting these sooner but had some luck finding some oop ones for a nice price. For instance Dr. Lamb cost me 5 Euro... Bewitched - Shaw Brothers Collection (1981) (IVL) oop Bloody Parrot - Shaw Brothers Collection (1981) (IVL) Devil Fetus - Legendary Collection (1983) (Fortune Star) Robotrix - Legendary Collection (1991) (Fortune Star) Dr. Lamb (1992) (Winston) oop Last edited by bdc; 7th November 2011 at 10:08 AM. |

Huamn Centipede 2 DVD
It is obvious this a dark satire. Not, of course, a comedy but a satire, much like Eraserhead and a lot of David Lynch's work. It satirizes zealous fandom, fan hunger for excess and audience expectation. Amidst all the Bain-Dead inspired scatological muck and slimy prosthetic daftness it is deftly poking fun at the modern horror cinema, sequels and complacent audience expectations. The BBFC took exception to a dark fantasy, not a realistic portrait of a maniac. Right or wrong they clearly re-thought their stance to a degree in letting it out with an 18 certificate. Yes, some content is cut, probably pointlessly, as it will surface on import, etc. I do find it hard to believe that not only the BBFC but so many reviews have missed the omnipotent blanket of humour and Kafka references that smother the whole film. How many car-park attendants carry side arms? Martin is intentionally exaggerated, like everything in the film! Lawrence Harvey is hilarious and clearly understood the subtext of the content in his very strong, larger than life performance. Effective horror films play with all the emotions and this makes the leap from silliness to repulsion, laughter to shock very effectively. On the downside the remainder of the UK cast couldn't act their way out of basic drama class! Oddly though, it probably helps the tone of the film and it's complete surreal premise. Good black and white photography too that must look stunning on HD. NOT to be taken seriously Daily Mail readers!

Given to me for nothing by a mate. He's giving up on films and focussing on computer games now as he says they're more entertaining and involving

That's an interesting look at Human Centipede II, napalm. I received a BD for review on Saturday and will make my thoughts known when a fine time to watch the film and go through the extra features.
