I watched the BD last night - my first viewing for at least 25 years in fact. It is not a particularly gory film, although some scenes are not exactly gore free shall we say... It is a sumptuously photographed movie which looks superb in Hi Def. No grain reduction whatsoever. In particular, the summer night sequences in the garden are both evocative and creepy.
Death is rendered to a realism that reflects the real world - the face of Lucy in death in particular should bring shudders to those of us who have seen corpses in real life.

Palance gives a strong performance as Dracula. Nigel Davenport and Simon Ward both shine in their roles as Dr Van Helsing and Arthur Holmwood.
The BD has an English stereo track with no subs. The disc is also region free.
All in all a great BD of one of the better renditions of Dracula.

Anyone know if the French BD of 'Killing Zoe' has removable subs, or are they permanent?
Thanks, Lincoln.

Thanks, Lincoln.

The review on blu-ray.com says it has optional French subtitles. And there are small portions where the dialogue is in French that have no subtitles in English.

Default Dreamscape - August 20th

For those of you disappointed by the Region A release (transfer wise) from 3 years ago, it can only be good news to see this being released by Carlotta Films on August 20th. Carlotta have form for very strong transfers - they chipped in to fund Arrow's restoration of The Fury and by all accounts are doing the same with Arrow's upcoming release of The Burbs.
Therefore, their release of Dreamscape should be a good 'un.

What?! France gets Night of the Demon and Hammer House of Horror on Blu-ray before we do. That's not on.

Default Dawn of the Dead

This is the French release of DOTD from 2010. Generally positive user reviews and a new Hi Def Transfer. I wonder if it betters the Arrow and Anchor Bay efforts?

I wouldn't know whether the transfer betters the Arrow Blu, but the cover artwork for the French Blu is terrible!
