If you haven't seen it, Dante 01 is a really interesting science fiction film directed by Marc Caro, the co-director of City of Lost Children, but interestingly has no similarities – aesthetically or content – with that film at all.

I probably should have, as you did, made separate lists, but that's probably something for tomorrow and will include the ones I've mentioned as being late omissions.

I wasn't going to but was having difficulty narrowing it down to 10, plus dystopian was definitely leading the way in the rankings (I'd completed my dystopian list with only just over half my PA list being filled) so decided to make two separate lists instead.

I suspect post apocalypse and dystopian should have been two separate subjects for the thread. If Nordy had made that vital call it would have set that anime top 10 back an extra week. |

The one odd thing is the word 'Apocalypse', in general usage, generally refers to the end of the world, so there is no such thing as 'post-apocalypse'! I'll probably just use the word to refer to nuclear war.

My interpretation of post-apocalyptic is the end of society/government so it's very similar to dystopian, or perhaps it's what happens in a dystopian society when everyone has had enough

Bloody hell this thread has moved along while I've been in work. Too many conversations gone on to keep up with so I'll summarise. Equilibrium is brilliant. Terminator Salvation is very good and will be on my list. Crimson Peak is the film Tim Burton wishes he could make, and i speak as a big Burton fan. And now I'll go away and muse over a top ten.

I was hoping to come up with a list of films that straddle both post apocalyptic and dystopian camps. But i can't come up with much that fits both.
