Nothing to stop you submitting some late lists, J, for the subjects you missed. The top 10's appear to have dried up a little. Just make sure you name them or nos42 will be really confused when he submits his list in the wee hours of Tuesday morning.

Because of the breadth of films made by Hammer, you could have a week with top-10 lists of non-horror Hammer films, focusing more on adventure/fantasy (She; One Million Years B.C.), psychological thrillers (The Nanny) or mystery (The Hound of the Baskervilles).

I imagine the same can be done with Universal, looking away from the monster movies and to some of the more eclectic output.

I don't really watch kung fu films as such but i could do a top 10 martial arts list no problem. Jackie Chan, Seagal, JCVD, Tony Ja, Sammo Hung, and Stephen Chow for example.
Not to mention Bruce Lee.

I would be up for that.

I'd forgotten Bruce Lee. It's because he didn't make the volume of films the others did and do. Well perhaps not Stephen Chow.

Yeah I'd struggle with traditional kung fu films. Shaw Brothers and such. I've barely seen a handful. Martial arts i could do. That said even if its a subject I'm not familiar and can't join in with I'd still be interested to read everyone elses lists. The beauty of this thread is how it opens up conversation and also gives me new films to track down that i may not have considered worth watching or even heard of in some cases. For instance if the Death Race sequels hadn't popped up in the Corman week i would probably never have given them time of day.

I don't think there's any need to separate kung fu and martial arts, simply because some practitioners/actors use a mixture of both in the films. I think John Wick uses a variety of close quarter combat techniques which can be described as either kung fu or martial arts. With the same actor, it's the same as in The Matrix, when Neo says "I know kung fu" and then, with Morpheus demonstrates what I would classify as martial arts fighting.

As I said with other topics, the broader – but not too broad – the subject, the more interesting and eclectic the lists. With this, mixing Shaw Bros, Golden Harvest and Hollywood releases (maybe even Steven Segal films) would be interesting.

I don't know if boxing would come into this or be a separate topic, but certainly some degree of hand-to-hand combat as the focus of the film would be a must. This would allow lists to include Rocky, Raging Bull, The Big Boss, Fist of Fury, Game of Death and The 36th Chamber of Shaolin, plus all the others linked in some way to those, with each list reflecting the person's knowledge and love of the type of film.

Boxing's more sports don't you think? There's a difference between Rocky and Bruce Lee killing folk.

I suppose boxing could go under sports, along with golf, horse racing, baseball, football (American and soccer), motor racing, free diving (The Big Blue), rugby, wrestling, pool etc.
