That film without Ornella Muti is like a broken pencil.

Whilst not bollocks it's far from my favourite Mann and equally far from being a great film.

I also notice you steer clear of classic theme music when it comes to a score. The likes of Bernstein, Williams etc.
I'll probably get stoned to death for this but I find a lot of the classical scores rather boring. They're often great in the confines of their cinematic prison, but outside and independent I feel a lot of them lose most of their 'power' and their often simplistic magnificence is converted into the mundane or even the inappropriate without the supporting visual aid to compliment their effects.

I did kind of consider Burton's Batman and Jaws in terms of more classical scores, but they don't really 'do it' for me as much as the ones I eventually decided on listing.

Beats me how everyone says Beyond the Black Rainbow is so great. I've never even seen it. Is it actually released over here?

I can't wait to see what MTDS comes up with.

Probably ten scores of elevator muzac from 70's porn flicks.

That's why you don't know it's so great... because you haven't seen it!

You may be surprised but I actually think you wouldn't like it... but I'd definitely recommend checking it out, especially if you're curious. To answer your question: no, it doesn't have a UK release - it's only been released in the US. You can pick up the US DVD fairly reasonably here.

I was tempted to cheat and post this as one of my list entries...

Probably my favourite un-used score.

But it has Brian Blessed, Max von Sydow, Topol, Melody Anderson, Mariangela Melato, Timothy Dalton and Sam J. Jones – more than enough to compensate on the soundtrack.
keirarts likes this.

I'm with you on the Clasical score front, Hans Zimmer etc all sound the same to me. Same with Godfather type Morricone, I love Morricone but give me the Spagetti and Giallo stuff, screw the Mission and the like. Yawn.

I've put it onto my wishlist, thanks.
