According to Wikipedia, you're right:

"Despite being located just 350 miles (563 km) from Chicago, the Twin Cities' average January of temperature of 15.6 °F (−9.1 °C) is below Chicago's 23.8 °F (−4.6 °C). During summer months, Minneapolis can be subject to hot temperatures from May to September, and high humidity."

I assumed it was reasonably cold all year round and not subject to such major fluctuations, with the temperature (in Fahrenheit) in the teens during the winter months and into the 80s in the summer.

Every day's a school day!

Given Frankenhooker and Nos' appreciated info I've updated my list switching out Waterworld which i wasn't really happy with for Fargo.

Twister.
Day After Tomorrow.
Hard Rain.
The Hateful Eight.
Day of the Outlaw.
The Old Dark House.
Falling Down.
The Shining.
The Revenant.
Fargo.

I'm a bit surprised reading all this about Minnesota.

Especially you J, seeing as you enjoy westerns.

That whole area - Minnesota, North, South Dakota, Iowa, Nebraska, Montana, feature in a hell of a lot of westerns which all show the states as incredibly hot in summer and cold as ice in winter.

The Rockies, which don't go into Minnesota but run alongside are an example of the extreme temperature changes.

I'm afraid some of US geography is a bit poor. I thought of Minnisota has being generally cold and snowy all year long. And nowhere near Dakota, Iowa, Nebraska, Montana.

Stuck in a car in a heatwave. If not for the hot weather they could have sat in the car until the dog dropped dead. The books not one of kings best, better than a lot of his newer material. I really like the film and think its one of the better King Adaptations. It would make a top 10 list for me.

Thanks k. As I said it's been a while and I've only seen it the once so don't remember too much about it.
