I like Roth. I even thoroughly enjoyed Green Inferno which seemed to meet almost universal disdain round here. In this case I'm not at all convinced Brucie is the right man for the job.

Me too, I never understand the criticism he gets, only film of his I haven't enjoyed (or finished) is Knock Knock, but that was mainly due to my other half wanting to turn it off after 30 minutes because she was bored with it, I might give it another shot some day

I feel the same about Rob Zombie as weĺ. His films are no worse than some films that get endless praise on social media. The only difference being zombie / Roths films were not made in the 70s

Oh yeah Knock Knock was rubbish! Forgot about that one. Although that was also a case of preposterous casting. I like Keanu but that was a terrible role.

It depends on what he means by "classic Bruce Willis". Is that comedy Bruce Willis from Moonlighting and Death Becomes Her? Wisecracking action hero from the Die Hard films? The serious dramatic actor from 12 Monkeys, The Sixth Sense and The Fifth Element?

As you say, I don't think any of those fit the general idea of what Paul Kersey should be.

I totally agree, Keirarts.

Had House of 1000 Corpses been made by some Italian hack in the 70's it would be seen as an all time great. Same goes for The Devil's Rejects and Roth's Cabin Fever and Hostel. That blood bath scene in Hostel Part II always makes me squirm.

I'll be watching them both (House / Rejects) again this October and have been saving 31 for this years Decemberdike marathon.
