There's nothing wrong with mainstream; all of those films are superb and on my long lists.

I agree. I mean with Noir you want the likes of Bogart and Mitchum as well as dames to kill for like Bacall and Hayworth.

Murder My Sweet 1944. Fallen Angel 1945.
Mildred Pierce 1945.
Scarlet Street 1945.
Notorious 1946.
The Postman Always Rings Twice 1946.
Out of The Past 1947.

Got the Arrow noir box set on my wish list as well.

Out of those, I’ve only seen Heat and Collateral and I’ve never considered them Noir films tbh, both great films though

It’s not that I don’t like the genre, I’ve just not seen many films from it

I strongly recommend you watch some Coen brothers films - Blood Simple, Miller's Crossing, Fargo, Barton Fink, The Man Who Wasn't There.

I'm sure you'd love them.

I’ve seen a few of their other films (Raising Arizona, The Big Lebowski, O Brother, Where Art Tho? etc) and really like them, so I’m sure I’ll like these too, they’re on the “to watch list”
