Not from those two actors, I liked Batman with Michael Keaton hated Batman forever and Batman and Robin, when Christian Bale donned the bat suit, I enjoyed the franchise again so I can't decide a favourite.

FILMS BASED ON COMIC BOOKS OR GRAPHIC NOVELS

I couldn't only make one list, so had to do three!

COMIC BOOKS – SUPERHEROES
  • The Avengers
  • Batman Returns
  • Blade II
  • Captain America: Civil War
  • The Dark Knight Trilogy – Dark Knight Rises if forced to pick one
  • Deadpool
  • Iron Man
  • Guardians of the Galaxy
  • Superman (1978)
  • X2

COMIC BOOKS – NON-SUPERHEROES
  • The Addams Family
  • Akira (1998)
  • Barbarella
  • Danger: Diabolik
  • The Extraordinary Adventures of Adèle Blanc-Sec
  • Flash Gordon
  • Ghost in the Shell (1995)
  • Mystery MenOldboy
  • Weird Science

GRAPHIC NOVELS
  • American Splendor
  • The Crow
  • Ghost World
  • Hellboy
  • A History of Violence
  • Road to Perdition
  • Scott Pilgrim vs. The World
  • Sin CitySnowpiercer
  • 30 Days of Night
Just missing out:
Blue Is the Warmest Colour
Persepolis
300
V for Vendetta

I was reluctant to include Battle Royale, because the film is an adaptation of the Koushun Takami novel, not the manga which came later in 1999 and was also based on the same source material.

This week, let's keep things very simple. Spurred on by the 'Beyond Terror' book and the featurette on 88 Films' Cat in the Brain release, your mission, if you choose to accept it, is to list your top 10 films directed by one of the two men dubbed the "Godfather of Gore".

LUCIO FULCI

Here's mine. I think Fulci directed two genuinely great spaghetti westerns. His third was much weaker so not listed here. Four of the apocalypse is astonishing....

I'd better get watching some Fulci films.

Over the years i've become bored of the likes of The Beyond and House by the Cemetery and have only watched Apocalypse, Lizard and Duckling once so a few rewatches are in order. Not The Beyond of House though.

I think I need to watch several discs have been stored away for a long time and haven't seen the inside of a DVD player for several years. I haven't seen Four of the Apocalypse, so that could be something to buy this week.
