I'll pass on this subject as it's years since i watched any Asian cinema and the only Aussie one that springs to mind is Van Diemen's Land.

Actually seeing a film is one thing, it being worthy of a top ten position in a list is a different matter altogether.

Thank you to those who contributed a list of their favourite psychological thrillers from Asia and/or the rest of the world.

This week's topic is for those films which are set, wholly or in part, in a circus, funfair, carnival, theme park or another similar attraction.

CIRCUS, FUNFAIR, CARNIVAL AND THEME PARK FILMS

Interesting topic as there are a hell of a lot of films that visit the places in question but aren't necessarily set there for the duration. I decided to ignore these and simply concentrate on films that use these locations for their central place of working.

Seeing as the Jurassic Park films and Westworld are not actually real theme parks or based on real theme parks or will never be in my life time i decided against them as well. Otherwise my top ten would have five dinosaur films in them, six if i included The Valley of Gwangi.

I was surprised your list didn't have any of the Jurassic Park films, and was going to ask, but you beat me to it without explanation!

I haven't seen The Greatest Showman but it must be good to make your list and he was clearly popular because it was in cinemas for a very, very long time.

When I thought of this topic, I didn't think there would be as many films which would potentially qualify as there are because, as you say, there are loads where a chunk of the running time takes part in a circus/carnival/theme park but the film wouldn't be classified as a 'circus film'. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 is partly set in the grounds of an abandoned carnival and the final act of Killer Klowns from Outer Space takes place in a weird, makeshift circus so both would qualify without being typical 'circus films'.

I thought it was a lot better second time round. It clearly warrants a place in my top 10 because i'm humming songs from it in my head as i'm typing this.
