I agree with Sargento, personally it's one of my all time favourite Zombie films. Was the first one I ever bought on DVD too so it has a special place in my heart. Shame it got cut to p o o so Tom couldn't release his true vision.

re.form 4th August 2010 07:34 PM

I recently watched The Crazies remake as well. Thought it was ok, entertaining enough, but as expected - could have done with being a bit more daring.

Also watched The Wave - german drama.

i thought the wave was brilliant.

Watched Repo Men with Jude Law last night, pretty good film and aimed at adults as it was pretty gory....

gag 4th August 2010 11:45 PM

just watched a cruel picture apart from the hardcore xxx scenes i realy cant see why this couldnt get released over here

the blob 5th August 2010 12:13 AM

What did you think of it in general?

I've heard Breaking Point is a tough watch and it's something I can't ever see getting released here.

Prowler 5th August 2010 02:29 AM

Satan's Baby Doll
Love Goddess of the Cannibals
The Beast in Space
Opera
The Foot Fist Way
Martin
The New York Ripper
- on Blu.

vipco 5th August 2010 11:35 AM

Im finding it hard to get into films at the moment (about 1 a week if im lucky) even though i've got a 'to watch' pile, but I caught Quadrophenia on cable last nite. (ITV 4) I really love that film.
I think its on ITV 3 again tonite.

gag 5th August 2010 12:07 PM

Im like that because im busy i dont get time, but when i do some days i cant be botherd or i spend that much time looking at my 2 watch pile hum and highing which 1 to watch that in the end i watch soemthing i seen b4 but not for ages, daft i know

bizarre_eye@Cult Labs 5th August 2010 12:13 PM

I have odd watching habits too. At times, I can happily watch three films a night, but sometimes I'll go for weeks without watching anything. Strangely enough these watching/non-watching periods generally correspond to certain times of the month/year. Maybe I'm a werewolf... or just weird. Or both.

iluvdvds@Cult Labs 5th August 2010 12:22 PM

"Why isn't BE watching any films?"
"It's must be that time of month again." ;)

DeadAlive 5th August 2010 02:12 PM

Island Of Death
This film did nothing for me at all. I know this film was made deliberately to shock, but I found the whole thing to be a bore. :bored:

i was expecting more from it from the things i heard but i supppose u always do when u hear so much about a film, It wasnt bad but at same times wasnt exactly spectacular either, i hrd it what inspired quentin to do killl bill, apart from the hardcore xxx scenes there realy isnt much in the film that y i think it should sail easily if it was released over here.. havent seen breaking point i try and watch nxt wk im away from today up scotland with work till tue.....

gag 5th August 2010 02:25 PM

Can any 1 confirm this i heard that the eye scene ppl go on about (wasnt as bad as ppl make out lasted mere few secs ) was used on a realy dead body of some 1 who commited suicide surely that cant be true ??

Nosferatu@Cult Labs 5th August 2010 02:52 PM

I'm pretty much locked into a habit where I will watch at least two films at night, sometimes as many as four. Before embarking on a Psycho binge, I'm currently midway through The Work of Director Anton Corbjin who really is an extraordinary director with a terrific selection of music videos to his name. He's no Spike Jonze or Chris Cunningham but there are some terrific videos on this disc which I've rented boat will probably end up buying.

It's so true though. :o

pedromonkey 5th August 2010 05:10 PM

watched LEGION last night, it was pretty good, everyone is saying how the last 20 minutes ruined the film, not for me although did they need to use the ending of Terminator for the ending of this... Paul Bettany was badass though..

Nosferatu@Cult Labs 5th August 2010 06:36 PM

I thought Legion was awful. It's by no means the worst film I've seen this year, but it doesn't even make the 'mediocre' pile.

I just watched Psycho on BD which is fantastic, a true horror masterpiece that looks and sounds better than it ever has. On with the commentary now...

Sargento 5th August 2010 07:14 PM

Just watched ..

... The Lovely Bones

A very moving film, terrifically directed by Jackson (did you spot him in the camera shop?). I had read good and bad reviews, but wanted to see it out of curiosity and TBH I really enjoyed it. Imagine Ghost ... but with a kiddy fiddler and none of the comedy, and you pretty much have the story. Beautiful looking imagery and music set an uncomfortable yet gripping film.

Yeah I liked it. Simplified a hugely controversial subject really well.

Recently watched:

Operation: Endgame (avoid this at all costs)

Mad Max. It's been years since I last watched it. Enjoyed.

pedromonkey 6th August 2010 12:28 AM

just finished watching the new A-TEAM movie, bloody fantastic, OTT action, very funny and some pretty cool references to the show. Sharlto Copley is amazing as Murdoch. just waiting for the Expendables now...

Here here, awesome film!

mbv 6th August 2010 09:21 AM

Watched Friday the 13th 7 last night. Love the look of Jason in this. Pity the MPAA shredded it.

antmumford 6th August 2010 11:36 AM

It's actually Friday the 13th next week so guess what I might have to put on for some light entertainment??

watched The Stranger with stone Cold Steve Austin which is one of the worst films i have ever seen, it's just crap, the man is not a good enough actor to carry an entire film. Some of the action scenes are really badly done and it has one of the slowest motor bike chases ever, it also shot on DV which has given it a home movie feel, i love a bit of action but this was just crap, avoid avoid avoid.

The today i watched The Losers, great action comedy with some pretty cool action set pieces, recommended.

nekromantik 6th August 2010 06:41 PM

Watched Hunger last night.
It was different, was pretty good but not a lot happens.Could been more gory though ha ha.

Nosferatu@Cult Labs 6th August 2010 07:03 PM

Is that the film by Steve McQueen with Michael Fassbender? If so, I thought it was absolutely terrific but are quite extraordinary performance by Fassbender and that one single take shot with Fassbender and (I think) Liam Cunningham contains some quite remarkable acting.

I like The Hunger, terribly underated imo (as is Tony Scott, really!)

Have you seen the TV series' Nekro? Great fun - They're sort of like a sleazier version of The Outer Limits.

Sorry Nos - missed your comment. Might have been this version that Nekro watched instead... :dizzy:

Nosferatu@Cult Labs 6th August 2010 10:08 PM

Either way, they are both very good films.

Angel 7th August 2010 07:27 PM

Blood Stained Romance

Not as much fun as it sounds

pedromonkey 7th August 2010 10:51 PM

sat down and watched the first horror film in over a month, The Stuff, bloody good film, never seen it before and glad i have....

DeadAlive 8th August 2010 09:42 AM

Frankenhooker
Great stuff. The pitch black humour is twisted and sublime. How could I not love a film that features exploding prostitutes and a death by lawn mover scene? I must give Bad Biology a rewatch. :loco:

Chaw
Korean creature feature that owes quite a bit to Jaws. This man against giant man-eating boar adventure has the expected uneven mix of comedy and thrills that is common to most Asain films of this kind, but it's worth the ride especially for the final third.

FRANKENHOOKER is a great movie.

Glad to hear CHAW is decent.I want to see this movie,I was stoked to see PIGHUNT but it wasnt that good .I was looking for a killer pig movie but the killer pig element really becomes a subplot.
