Oh right. Yeah, such a good film. I haven't been keeping up with Cedric Kahn's stuff. Roberto Succo is the only other one of his I've seen . . .

Same here, actually. In the space of a few months I discovered a load of great stuff like Harry, He's Here to Help, Lemming, Home, and Time Out. All absolute corker's . . .

Just watched "Demon Hunter" ended up with mixed feelings about it. On the one hand I thought it was a little crude, no polish and on the other hand there were some naked ladies. I steeled myself and watched it through. Oh, yeah Billy Drago was the baddie (again)!
5/10 for having to go down the soft porn route instead of trying some action sequences!

Back to "50 SCI-FI Classics" tomorrow.

The lost weekend (Billy Wilder - 1945)
A film about a man in a downward spiral caused by alcoholism. A masterpiece, a very good performance by Ray Milland, very convincing.
I have another beer now, the last one ;-)
Oh, and I've bought the Eureka steelbook. Already have the Island of lost souls and Das testament des dr. Mabuse steelbooks. They look so beautiful, now I want to collect them all (except Metropolis which is very expensive now and I already have the standard blu from Eureka)

"Horrors of Spider Island" 1962
To be honest I enjoyed this despite itself! My heart sank when it started in the waiting room of a "Talent Agents" with 12 girls who had just dropped from the cover of a 1950s pulp novel about "fallen women"! The agent was picking 6 dancers to go to work in Singapore. With the dancers chosen and en route the plane crashes into the Pacific and the only survivors are 6 dancing girls, the agent and his secretary. They find the titular island and, in a cabin, they find a dead professor in an oversized string web! The film then follows the gang's exploits on the island.

As I said, I enjoyed the film, despite the quality (not brilliant), the acting (juvenile), the plot (cheesy), the effects (not special) and the script (written in crayon by a baboon)! "Horrors of Spider Island" is one of those turkeys that you get fond of and can't bring yourself to kill and cook for Christmas.

Loved that spider (singular) 8/10 for sheer audacity.

I have a soft spot for… Spider Island because it is so cheesy, ludicrous and highly enjoyable, mostly for the reasons you outlined in your post.

I was wondering, is Film 4 full of adverts?

I was just deciding on the best way to watch A Field in England tonight.

There's usually adverts around every 15 minutes, but I don't know if they've changed it or not.
