Far exceeded my expectations, visual stunning and very well acted from the two leads. Even though not that much happens until the last quarter of the film I was gripped from start too finish thanks to the acting and chemistry between Pratt and Lawrence. Part Robinson Crusoe and silent running with romance throwing in. Its a shame that it appears to doing poorly at the box office. 9.1/10

Girl House (2014)

A beautiful college student gets a job at an isolated mansion where they stream adult rated one to one webcam content. One of her followers becomes obsessed and breaks into the house and a fight for survival begins.

Given the plot you'll be surprised as i was that there's barely any nudity in the film. I must admit i almost felt cheated that an exploitation film could be so shit at exploiting it's audience, actually the same goes for the blood and guts, there's not that much on screen mayhem at all, but what the film lacks in exploitation elements it certainly makes up for in other aspects as what we do have is a rather well made, well acted Halloween style slasher movie with some good scares along the way.

If I have got this right but the story sounds alot like parts of Hitch-hikers Guide ( "Golgafrincham Ark Fleet, Ship B") and an episode of Dr Who,ie spaceship full of people in suspended animation.

You could look at it that way. But for me it was as I said more robinson crusoe/silent running with romance added. It also left me with a nice warm happy feeling which is not something I could say about rogue one.

Krampus. Michael Dougherty. 2016.

When his hillbilly extended family arrive for the Christmas holidays young Max ends up becoming disillusioned with the festivities and inadvertently summons an ancient demon intent on punishing unbelievers. Another seasonal horror from Michael Dougherty the director of modern Halloween classic Trick'r'Treat. In fact this is his first film since and only his second feature. While not up there with TrT this is still good fun particularly in the second half when we get all sorts of weird and wonderful creatures. The long clown/centipede type thing being rather creepy. Effects are great and the film is unapologetically dark in a Tim Burton sort of way. Only issue I really had was Adam Scott who is totally totally miscast as Max's dad and has absolutely zero chemistry with Toni Collette.

Stephen Kings It. Tommy Lee Wallace. 1990.

Despite knowing I liked this film, enough to easily include it in my top ten Tuesdays a few weeks back I hadn't actually watched it in a good many years.
A group of teenage misfits and outcasts in 60's Maine, become firm friends and set out to destroy a mysterious entity that is feeding on the towns children. They succeed and make a pact to return to the town if ever the evil should come back. 30 years later and the killings start again. Mike Hanlon is the only one of the gang to have remained in town but when he makes the call the friends, now grown ups, honour there vow and head home.
As I said it's been a while but this was actually better than I remembered and I remember it being pretty darn good to begin with. Tim Curry is fantastic as Pennywise, an evil clown and the shape shifting monsters preferred form.

The problem with IT is that it's a film of two halves, the first part when they are kids is gripping and scary while the part where they are adults confronting their demons is not very good. The fact that it ends with the adult's story means you feel a bit let down by the end of the film, but obviously there had to be that closure or it would end up being another Stand By Me (The Body). However it's not the worst Stephen King adaptation by a long shot and I did enjoy it the last time I saw it, just not as much as I thought I would.

I'll be watching the despecialised edition later on (fan edit to resemble the original theatrical version) after watching ANH and ESB from my bluray box set over the last two days. I don't know whether it was to do with the tinkering which has been done but I didn't enjoy Empire as much as I did ANH the day before. I was really annoyed by the dubbing of Boba Fett for some reason
