Not saying you're wrong, but that's the way I felt after watching it. The only thing I felt was a cold kind of pity/contempt.

Yeah I got that, but I never connected with their detachment if that makes any sense. Found her kind of annoying, and him kind of boring. But on a technical level I quite enjoyed it . . .

51 (2011)

I really enjoyed this Syfy produced film.

Journalists are finally allowed into Area 51, more specifically Hanger 18 to prove once and for all that aliens are not being held there.

Except they are. Two levels below the journalists viewing areas. And they escape!

51 is a fast moving horror thriller, directed by Jason Connery and stars Bruce Boxleitner from Babylon 5, who pretty much reprises his role of Commander Sheridan in all but name for this fun film.

Credit must go to director Connery for keeping the excitement levels high and moving the story on at a rapid pace, even though it was viewed from several characters perspectives. From the bored guards on the surface to the scientists down below it all held together well. Kudos also for using practical effects for the aliens rather than the much simpler and less effective CGI. It gave the aliens a realistic feel.

Easily the best in the After Dark Originals series of films, and all for £1.27 delivered. Top stuff.

"L'Anticristo". A rather pleasant riff on "The Exorcist" with a bonus reincarnation of a witch story chucked in for good measure. This looks lovely, with great cinematography and sets giving the whole film a real sheen of luxury. For me though, the stand out moment was during the flashback to the Witches Sabbath as our unlucky heroine gets a close up, eye full, up a goat's Khyber which she then leans in to kiss! We are then treated to a scene of her in the present, waggling her tongue around in wild abandon, presumably reliving goaty analingus.
Not since I saw a pirate video of Marcel Marceau and Alejandro Jodorowsky on the piss have I seen such mugged up mime.

I quite enjoyed that one. I picked up the Optimum DVD for less than three quid in a Christmas sale and was very impressed with the image quality. I also thought that the film was very well photographed, which is no surprise when the lighting cameraman on the film was none other than Aristide Massaccesi aka Joe D'Amato.

It actually has quite a decent if somewhat unwarrented exorcism scene in it (and cult actor andrew prine) I think this one is worth another look.
