I'm still astonished by the ending of this film. Granted no one ever exits a Fulci film with any degree of happiness but The Beyond must surely be the man's blackest, bleakest ending. I love that weird shot of the feet running on the stairs. Anyone know what Fulci thought of Suspiria and Inferno ? I think The Beyond (and City of the Living Dead) would never have happened without those earlier films. I'm not saying Fulci was ripping off Argento, just that those films must have freed him up to experiment...

Yep, pretty bad... but the torment suffered by the leads in The Beyond will last for eternity...

I prefer the ending to The Beyond, that there opera, but the ending to The New York Ripper get's me down EVERY BLOODY TIME! One of the most bleack thing's I have ever seen in my life. In more happy new's, I watched Die Nibelungen last night. Finished my coursework early and found out I had been cursed with sleep block, so I spent the early hour's of the day watching this three hour masterpiece. Great stuff, and it's easy to see why it's so influencial. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm finaly feeling sleepy, so shal retire extra early today. |
