I'm not that keen on the Friday films. The first four are okay, the rest I could happily never see again.

But, surely if you watch 'Friday 13th 1 - 4', you are also watching 'Friday 13th 5 - 9'!

To be honest, I'm not overly keen on any of them... although I've revisited the first four more than the rest.

I saw Pitch Perfect at the cinema this morning and it's great fun. Consistently amusing with some terrific one-liners, the musical numbers are beautifully choreographed and really well executed by the cast. It's a little like A Mighty Wind but with a cappella singing instead of folk music and without the usual Christopher Guest group of actors.

There is a commentary duo of Fred Willard and Elizabeth Banks who are both brilliant, especially the hilarious misogynist played by Willard: "Women are about as good as a cappella as they are at being doctors."

The trailer may make it look like a teen musical, but it is much better than I expected and well worth checking out.

Love Letters of a Portuguese Nun (1977) Maria is a young girl whose mother is coerced by a lecherous priest to allow him to take her daughter and put her into a convent. However this isn't your usual house of God. There’s devil worship going on and Maria's virginity is sacrificed to Satan, (whose played by an actor called....er....Herbert Fux!) Marie then desperately tries to get the message out by trying to contact the local Inquisition. A Nunsploitation movie which is little more than an excuse for naughty nuns.

Yes, Jason X. Far and away the wittiest, funniest, best performed, best made and downright fun of the lot*. Good film.

I have no recollection of the fourth one at all. I may have it knocking about somewhere. I need some brainless crap to watch tonight (not been very well lately, anxiety wise, need to chill as much as possible) so if I can find it I shall watch it (again?).

High Fidelity.

Fortunately the blu-ray of this film is much better quality than the lame grosse pointe blank hollywood pictures release, and even better its aged well as well. I had feared coming back to this movie after five years or more since I last watched it that it wouldent be as good as I remember, fortunately it is and even Jack black cannot ruin that!

In the spirit of the movie then, heres my top five John cusak movies.

1.Grosse pointe blank.
2.Being John malkovich.
3.High fidelity.
4.Grifters.
5.Say anything.

Tough list. MAX, IDENTITY, CON AIR, BETTER OFF DEAD and MIDNIGHT IN THE GARDEN OF GOOD AND EVIL would finish a top ten, then theres stuff like SIXTEEN CANDLES and THIN RED LINE which he appears in but doesent star.

One of my "go to" films when I am down. The Sure Thing is glorious.
