Broken - 2006 UK d: Simon Boyes, Adam Mason

Heavy handed but mostly interesting UK backwoods nutter entry. Having the heroine called Hope and her determination to "let the flowers grow" might have you reaching for the puke bag, but aside from these lapses this is an intriguingly weird horror tale. I liked the lack of backstory and explanation very much and there was some good character development which is usually missing from these mean-spirited hyper-violent things.

Interesting more than good, but none the less successful for that, in its way.

My good friend Nathan did the Special Effects for this. In fact its the same guy who did my zombie make up you can see on my Facebook profile.
It's a pretty good film actually, let down slightly by the amateur acting in places.

I'm not sure, but I'd be willing to give it a go. Being of Sicilian descent, I have a reasonable grasp of the Italian language so I can understand a lot of the dialogue, providing it isn't spoken too fast....Italians talking fast, hell no!


Anyway, watched John Carpenters Village of the Damned last night on the old tellybox, not one of his better efforts and already forgotten, I wish I'd watched my intended film last night, Hatchet instead.
Got the Amazing Spider-man lined up to watch on blu ray today with the kids, let's see we enjoy it as much as we did in 3D at the cinema

This Means War
The Watch........Enjoyed this comedy about a neighbourhood watch. Must admit this film wasn't what I was expecting from the trailers I had seen

Tonight I have mostly been watching On her majesty's secret service (Blu) perhaps the best Bond story with perhaps the worst actor playing Bond. Only the Roger Moore Bond's left to watch from the recent box set, and next up is my favourite Live and Let Die! I also revisited Sennentutschi (Blu) (hope thats spelt correctly) reputedly Switzerland's first genre film (at least thats what the director claimed when he presented it at Fright Fest in 2011) and based on this let us hope there are more. The German blu is English friendly (English subs) and has the wonderful poster as the box art, including the exquisite drawing around the border in which the entire story is depicted, so perhaps best not to study it too closely until you have watched the film.
