I wasn't keen on it when I first saw it in 1995 or '96, but watched it again the next morning and really liked it. Since then, I've seen it many more times and consider it Tim Burton's best film with Jonny Depp's finest performance.

In my opinion, The Searchers is the best Western ever made, with Once Upon a Time in the West a close second and Sergio Leone's best film.

This afternoon I had a look at Fitzcarraldo on German blu-ray. Unlike Nosferatu, here we get a straight English dub on the German release (no sub-titles). This is one of my all time top ten greatest films and it grows on me each time I see it. That the madness and genius depicted in the film were also part of the gruelling near two year shoot (see Herzog's diary of the making of the film) somehow making it even better. Quite brilliant.

The bluray also has the documentary Burden of Dreams in English.

Valentino (1977)
A biographical movie from Ken Russell about the silent star Rudolph Valentino. A little too episodic and it reminded me of a badly dubbed movie! I suspect that most of it was 'fiction'.

I want to pick that up. Aguirre too, but I'm a bit put out that the German soundtrack doesn't have English subs (although the English dub is available). I'm wondering whether to hold out longer.

Just watched Hellraiser for the first time in about 10 years, I bought the anchor bay blu ages ago and just never got around to it... Bloody hell it was awesome, I forgot how great it is, apart from the shoddy animated effects that come out of the puzzle box and drag the cenobites back to hell, I'm buzzing now, and I just picked up Hellbound: Hellraiser II from CEX so I'll watch that later this evening.

One of me fav horrors of the 80s! Heck of all time!
I only got first 5 on dvd and I hope to get them all on blu too! Only got 1st on blu so far.

Today I watched Argo. I loved it! Very good performance from the cast and a well made, interesting movie. Gotta give props to Ben Affleck for turning into a good director. I still need to check out The Town which I own but yet to watch.
