I watched the 2 Basket Case sequels back to back last night - surreal, rarefied alternative reality trash or 3 hours of folk running round in silly costumes? One thing I'Ii say for Henenlotter, he's an entertainer and probably the bravest don't give a shit filmmaker out there. Don't think we needed the frog man right enough, he took me right out the film....

I caught the late night film Kiss of the damned the directorial debut of John Cassavettes daughter Xans largely unsuccesful attempt to recapture some of the magic of 60s and 70s films such as Daughters of Darkness.

Two and a half hours of Japanese fantasy next with The Black Square.

Kiss Me Monster (Jesus Franco, 1969).

When two adventuresses hook up to play sax and get embroiled in a worldwide mystery and Jf is at the helm, the result is a high camp (think Everest haha) feast for the eyes, if not for the ears (the dubbing reduces the dialogue to some choice titbits....wait, that's why I liked it, Ah, what the hell....new favourite film!! Ahem) SOLD!!

All The Colours Of the Dark (Sergio Martino, 1972)
Couldn't really follow KMM with Mike Leigh's Hard Labour now could I??
Martino's film is a riot of imagination centred around a rather fevered performance by Edwige Fenech (this is a good thing). Must watch it more often, but writing this list for the 70s poll is really distracting, as dredging up the old memory bank has unleashed a few forgotten gems!! Ahem.

I only saw this for the first time just before Christmas. I was lucky enough to order the Popflix set before it was withdrawn, and a very nice print it is by the way.

I wasn't exactly expecting a film about chicken farming with very little in the way of gialli traits though.

Enjoyable enough though.

The Last Temptation Of Christ (Criterion Blu Ray). Thought it was very long winded and a bit of a yawn to be honest. PQ & AQ were top notch though.

I watched THE MATRIX last night and realised when Keanu Reeves was being cocky as he came back to life, his acting was stiff and stilted (not natural)
