@keirarts - Would you say the sequel is worth buying? I have the first one and thought that was a solid film, heard mixed opinions on the sequel though ... I don't mind that its not dubbed since I only watch dubbed films if there is no subtitled option.

I haven't really watched many films lately, hence my lack of posting for a couple of weeks, been far too busy wrapping up the first year of my degree and playing gigs while severely drunk (and not remembering playing ) I did watch Forrest Gump on TV last night and forgot how great the soundtrack is, so many of my favourite songs in one film, that's a rarety, and I love the film too, always brings a lump to my throat at the end

Alice (Jan Svankmajer): Decided to give Svankmajer another try after being furrily creeped out by Darkness Light Darkness...and I still find his SM animation to be extremely disturbing and almost made me cringe on a few occations...but it's a rollicking good view isn't it?! Very good take on the done to death source material and with a very memoriable atmosphere, if only the models wheren't so ugly I'd not hesitate at calling it a masterpiece, but alas I can simply call it a great movie. Highly reccomended, but I doub't i'll ever grow to like his SM animation.

DEADLY BLESSING. A strange film full of unreleased potential that could have been great if some of the themes had been followed up or others removed. Ultimately it's very messy in places and also very 80s, especially in it's, wham bam, triple reveal at the climax of the film.

I bought and watched the German bluray of Last Stand this evening. Wow! I really liked this, one of the best action films of recent years. I am sad I passed on this when it played the local cinema. Tomorrow (five hours from now) I'm off to Manchester for Blazing Magnums tomorrow evening. Should be a lot of fun. |

The House on the Edge of the Park Used to find this film a little boring but over the years it's grown on me. It's really a David Hess showcase and he is great in it. The score is juxtaposed really effectively and it's interesting to see Giovanni Lombardo Radice playing the easily lead simpleton. I don't think it really deserves the rep it has, not to these jaded eyes anyway. The "it was a set-up all along" ending has to go down as one of the daftest ever. Now how about a deluxe Hess BD collection with Last House on the Left and Hitch-Hike |
