And Prometheus down right ripped it off. PotV is a cracking little film. Hope it get's a wider release someday.

Lat nights films were Futureworld the rather charmless sequel to Westworld and the Superman reboot Man of Steel. I didn't like Man of Steel at the cinema, but its growing on me. Perhapps the smaller screen diminishes Snyders in your face action scenes sufficiently that I can finally see the whole. I must say the scene at the end of Clark playing at the clothes line is brilliant.

Bubba Ho-Tep, such a great film by the man who gave us the Phantasm films. I actually prefer it to those and this exchange by Bruce Campbell and Ossie Davis gets me everytime Elvis: No offense, Jack, but President Kennedy was a white man. JFK: They dyed me this colour! That's how clever they are!

Captive Wild Woman (1943). A typically loony scientist doing experimentation in glandular research becomes obsessed with transforming a female gorilla into a human. Captive Wild Woman is one of the worst Universal horror films i've ever seen. The film seems hamstrung by its circus trappings and the seemingly contractual constant over exposure of the lion and tiger taming acts to the point where its meagre hour running time feels overlong. The gorilla transformation effects were decent and the highlight of a lacklustre film. The usually excellent John Carradine seems to be phoning in his performance and the films main attraction Aquanetta, was a disappointment, failing to raise the film to anything approaching satisfying. |

Just watched MANIAC COP 2. It's a region free blu like most of Blue undergrounds output and looks phenomenal. Definitely the best presentation of the film to date. Its a really fun sequel and goes totally over the top compared to the first. The extras are all great fun as well and it's a highly recommended purchase. |
