My Intial views where on the money. Totally sick and depraved but like a car accident you can't help but watch. For me the sickest scene was the women eating after the girls body had been disposed of by acid in the bath.
The extreme slobbering mouth close up, yes totally disgusting and employed with similar effectiveness in the German movie of untold insanity Angst.

THE PIT - Fantastic oddity with icky undercurrents, 'The Pit' revolves around a young man with sleaze issues and a talking ted. In the woods out back is a pit full of troglodytic throwbacks who turn out not to be a metaphor for beckoning adulthood - they're just monsters who eat people, mostly mini-lech's persecutors. A truly odd film which, besides being a real head-scratcher, is a lot of fun, all the more so for pitching its weirdness against a sickly seventies TV movie-esque backdrop.

SATANIC ATTRACTION - More top flight weirdness from an ex-hardcore director who hopefully wasn't looking for mainstream acceptance with this unhinged and frankly pretty awful number. It's awful in all the right ways, though - porno-flat acting, gratuitous gore and random bursts of strangeness fill out this tale of a radio host whose show (basically her reading out a rubbish serial killer story) inspires a series of 'real' murders involving a Satanist and his undead sister. Mesmerisingly bad, and I wish it were available on something other than knackered VHS.

SLEEP TIGHT - Superb offering from the director of 'Rec'. A downtrodden concierge dedicates his existence to reducing the happiness of those around him by various covert means - he focuses on a happy-go-lucky young lady whose perma-smile and happening lifestyle pretty much sum up everything he hates about the world. What follows is gruelling and truly disturbing, with some really uncomfortable scenes, especially those near the end. It's pitch perfect in terms of pace, ambience and tone and, for me at least, ferments a really tense
atmosphere of foreboding. Really recommended.

I've just ordered Sleep Tight, cheers Frankie. I hope you're on a roll as you recommended The Sleeper as well.

Do you have a sleep fetish?

Is The Sleeper the claw hammer slasher? Saw that in cex the over day for £4 and remember Dem mentioning it favourably. Worth £4 then?

Glad you liked 'The Sleeper' - I was really taken with it. I agree with your review. In fact, now you've got me thinking about it, I'll have to give it another go.
Hope you find 'Sleep Tight' as psychologically draining as I did. Maybe it was my mood on the day, but either way it's a really tightly made character based thriller with quite a disturbing theme.
Do I have a sleep fetish? It kind of turns me on to dress up as a massive duvet, but it's not something I do very often.

Cool, will pick it up next time I'm in. Money and DVD space are so tight that with films like that I always think I'd better check if its on Netflix first before spending any money

I actually dress up as a duvet every night.

Edit -Perhaps not as one, but certainly in one.

Which is fine, as long as stains are kept to a minimum.
Thinking about it, hot water bottles are pretty disturbing, like floppy alien dwarves or something. Not sure whether that's kinky, though.
