I suppose my big gripe with 'It's My Party…' was the terrible AV quality, which made watching it very difficult.

Sure, some may be torturous to watch but for me that is part of the fun. Any fool can watch a well made film but it takes a special kind of idiot to trek through the wastelands of cinema...just ask Dem and Mr Teardrop, two of the finest idiots I know!

Fair brings a tear to the eye. "sniff"

Terrible AV quality can be a deal breaker i agree. Even the cheapest "movies" tend to look decent.

Mobile phones have really come on in recent years.

I know what you mean but for some reason it doesn't bother me with films like this, it just adds to the challenge of sitting through the buggers!

Oculus.

Perhaps the finest evil mirror film ever made (until the amityville mirror film gets a greenlight) from the maker of Absentia. Oculus is a film that is ripe with slow building dread. Don't really want to say too much about the plot suffice to say its intelligent and well thought through.

Karen Gillan is nice eye candy as well!

The Man Who Finally Died. (1962)

Intriguing mystery thriller finely acted by a stalwart British cast - Stanley Baker, Peter Cushing, Eric Portman, Nigel Green, about a German born Englishman (Baker) who receives a call to return to his Bavarian ancestral home because his father had died. But he died twenty years ago... didn't he?

The Man Who Finally Died has a great initial premise but by the resolve had become far too convoluted for it's own good, making earlier moments of intrigue wholly unnecessary. That said it's still a very entertaining film and whilst the ride is better than the final denouement it's still a ride well worth taking.

The lovely looking Network dvd is well worth picking up and is recommended to fans of British films.

Blood Of Dracula (1957)

A girl at a boarding school is experimented on to prove a theory that a power to destroy the world is hidden in humans. With the aid of a talisman from the Carpathian mountains, a chemistry teacher has command of the girl as the girl turns vampire and attacks some of the students.

I had not seen this in years and could not remember anything about it apart from the vampire, so decided to give it a fresh viewing. The vampire transformation is really the highlight of this film. Big furry eye brows and long teeth come too late though as this just comes across as a teen girl movie. There is even a song and dance number called 'Puppy Love ! The poster looks great but the film really is not up to much. Shame.

Time after time

H.G. Wells (Malcolm McDowell )invents a time machine which is used by one of his friends (David Warner ) who turns out to be jack the Ripper who use's it to escape into the future. Wells sets out to catch him and bring him back to justice. Along the way he meets Amy (Mary steenburgen) who being extremely horny sets her sites on bedding H.G! After she has her way she joins him in his hunt for Jack . Part fish out of water, romance, sci fi and thriller. We have a cracking little film that is a lot of fun to watch and you can see the cast most of had a great time making it, not hard to see why McDowell likes it so much. A truly wonderful film that is crying out for a blu ray release. 9.5/10

The Texas chainsaw massacre

A classic. 10/10

Tron

A childhood favourite that's still as enjoyable as when I watched as a small boy. The effects still stand up well till this day. Enjoyable piece of 80s nostalgia. 9.5/10
