On a movie binge lately, call it football fatigue. Here's 2 more -
Enter the Void - I love a movie where you don't know what's going to happen from scene to scene in this one everything's up for grabs, the sheer bravado on display had me hypnotised - I loved every bloated minute of it. At its heart it's the cornball story of 2 conjoined souls triumphing over death (sort of)- it's like Ghost remade by an amphetamine crazed lunatic.
Excision - Lord above that last five minutes. Sometimes the ending of a film recasts everything that went before. What went before here was a creepy kid in suburbia a la Donnie Darko, May and many others. Some cool faces pop up, Traci Lords can really act, the lead actress is superb. Blah blah blah family drama, weird visions, teenage sexuality then that last five minutes which I'll never forget. Goddam - back to Ivory Coast v Greece to re engage with reality. IMO well worth the 6 quid for the blu ray on Amazon just now- check it out.

LOVELACE has just finished, the first third is a poor man's BOOGIE NIGHTS minus any sex or fun...the remaining two thirds are like a rather tired TV MOVIE of the week about domestic violence. What a waste of time, it completely lacks heart and soul, insight or anything of depth with regard to porn or people but especially domestic violence and the reasons for the violence or why people stay in abusive relationships. Avoid.

Glad you reviewed this as it's been on my wishlist since it came out.

I still might check it out when it goes for the price of postage, as i usually like Amanda Seyfried in films.

I was having trouble with it, had to delete Cult Labs off my forum list, then add it again and it's working fine now, as this post proves

And, they've finally added the "like post" feature, which means I no longer have search for all the posts I wanted to like while browsing on my phone when I was next on my PC

The Freshman
Safety Last
Haunted Spooks

(All Harold Lloyd etc)

Can I just say that I hate Leonard Maltin btw?
Ahem.
Not quite the bringer of chaos that I remembered, HL still raised a chuckle or three. Haven't ventured into the few talkies that are on the set, but will endeavour to peruse them next! Especially since I'm pretty sure I've never heard him speak. The lack of a decent documentary is another let down, a few puff pieces here and there no doubt kept the estate happy, but not me . Not that I want an Arbuckle style expose haha. The prints certainly look decent, as I'm led to believe that HL was one of the first to start his own archive (negatives etc) so at least the source material was there to remaster.....

Oh thank the good Lord! what took them so long! I mainly check this forum when out and about so never give out likes which seems unfair.

Anyway...back on topic..I watched Guest House Paradiso the other night. It was utterly terrible.

Watched so much over the past few months so will post a proper update when I have more time.

It didn't take a genius given the film's subject matter.
