Its a 4:3 release from 2Entertain. Its by no means unwatchable but its not great.

See grabs above for comparison, the UK one is bearable, but this is the best thing about the blu, it's just that wee bitty clearer IMO.

Jurassic world.

With a plot that appears to have been cooked up by someone whose mother drank heavily throughout her pregnancy, Jurassic world is ludicrous beyond belief. However.... It's really great fun. Not in the OTT nuttiness of Fury Road, whose glory it fails to top (even if it has topped its box office.) it is a daft piece of popcorn fodder that will entertain. It's nice to see that CGI has come so far as to almost look as good as the practical stuff Stan Winston did back in 1992, and the sub plot about training Raptors to hunt Al queda and making them the heroes is so f^&^%^ stupid it made me smile. Chris Pratt is likeable as the apparently faultless cliche that is the stereotypical badass as portrayed by Americans. Military background: check, amiable lone wolf: check. However Pratt actually manages to make something of the underwritten part he's been given. fun, disposable popcorn trash.

Contamination

Trash of a different order. This one is the king of ludicrous premises. A martian cyclops is birthing eggs that explode causing people to explode into bloody chunks in an apparent ( and clearly doomed) bid for global conquest. It matters not a bit that the plot makes no sense, that the dialogue is hysterically bad and the FX work ropey. ITS FUN. Luigi Cozzi knows how to make things entertaining and turns it into a ropey OTT bond movie with exploding eggs. whoever banned it was clearly devouring acid at the time.

The Pirates of Blood River (1962)

An amiable romp from Hammer which was almost ruined by the studio themselves ,who at the last minute decided they wanted the film to sport a U certificate rather than the X rated shocker that had been filmed so they cut everything that might be considered exploitative out, from violence to language overdubs.

It's down to John Gilling's pacy direction, plenty of swash and buckle and a fine cast - Christopher Lee, Andrew Keir, Kerwin Matthews, Oliver Reed, and Glenn Corbett - which keep the film's head above water and ensures The Pirates of Blood River, which actually plays out more like a Hollywood western than a peplum movie, remains a worthy addition to the studios non-horror output.

It Follows (David Robert Mitchell, 2014)

Anyone else seen this? Was highly recommended by a reliable source etc. Hmmmmmm is all I can say, great first 50 minutes, then it sort of stalls imo. Great ST though (by Disasterpiece).

Is that a spoiler??? If you are at all interested in this...do not watch trailer!!!!

Will rewatch, as was in funny mood last night anyhow.......
