I think it's funny how the forum seems divided when it comes to The Lost Boys and Near Dark, yet we rarely discuss The Burning vs Friday the 13th in the same light

That's because The Burning is clearly better!

I'm not a huge fan of either though really.

I really like Friday the 13th, but agree with you that The Burning is probably the better of the two films. It could be because I don't watch it as is often, or because it isn't diminished by sequels but, as a stand alone film, The Burning is better, but Friday the 13th is probably more fun.

I tend to watch the Burning more often, but I think they're both equally as good as each other

I don't watch either to be honest.

Prefer a bit of Jason Vorhees myself.

I always watch one of the Friday the 13th films when that day and date occur, so I have seen them – particularly the first – many more times than The Burning, which I should much more often.

The burning is the better film, personally I find the Friday the 13th to be boring and overrated. The only Friday the 13th films I really like are the final chapter and Jason x

There's no need really as the Friday films are divisive enough don't need to bring The Burning into it.

Personally i enjoy both Lost boys and Near dark, Lost boys is sheer nostalgia as i was about 12 when it came out, so exactly the right age.
I think its entertaining but too glossy and pop video like in places, but really like the old Grandad and the frog brothers. And the camp fire scene.
Near Dark is more adult but only gets going when we meet the family, i could do without the love scenes and the 'cure for vampirism' ending.
Love the bar scene slaughter to The Cramps 'Fever' and the motel scenes. The kid vampire is a ****ed up piece of work and he's also very good in the underrated 'Rivers Edge'.

As to Friday vs Burning, Slashers are not really my bag baby, The Burning wins over Friday 1 tho.
The only Fridays i really like are 2,3 and 4. Final Chapter is my favourite.

What about The Howling vs American Werewolf then?

I'd go for American W, but only just.
