Not of This Earth (1957) "An alien agent from the distant planet Davana is sent to earth via a high-tech matter transporter. There he terrorizes Southern California in an attempt to acquire blood for his dying race, the result of a devastating nuclear war." First time I watched this,I thought it was ok...second time I thought it was pretty good and third time I loved it. Corman again succeeds in delivering a bizarre and entertaining film on a very tight budget imho.

Howling V: The Rebirth (1989) A semi-decent entry into what is a very erratic series of films with practically no connection (apart from they are all werewolf movies) to Joe Dantes's 1981 original. A group of guests go to stay at a recently reopened castle in Hungary. A castle which as ever holds a dark secret. The secret being that someone at the castle is a werewolf. Just as much a whodunnit as a horror movie. The Rebirth plays out like an inferior version of 1974's The Beast Must Die but without the novelty of a 'werewolf break' and lacking that film's heavyweight cast. The Gothic look of the film is wasted due to the whole thing having that digital feel to it rather than the authenticity of a production filmed on er' film. A shame really as the castle used for the film is a magnificent building. However The Rebirth is still worth watching as it keeps you guessing who will eventually end up howling at the moon, and keeps you entertained with some nice practical gore fx. |

Seconded it's my third fav hammer in general as well as my fav Dracula. My absolute favourite hammer is curse of the werewolf. I upgraded both of these to blu yesterday awaiting delivery. My second fav hammer in between the 2 is scream/taste of fear. I revisit the 3 regularly.

ImageUploadedByTapatalk1437842940.272426.jpg Enjoyed the first so much yesterday decided to go and see the sequel. This time the story evolves around Ted after marrying is girlfriend and want to adopt a child find out his is not a person in the eyes of the government so sets out to prove that he is. Lots of pop culture references including Jurassic park, taken Star Wars and trains plane and automobiles amongst others. Lots of star cameos including Morgan Freeman, Liam Neeson, Michael Dorn. If you didn't enjoy the first you aren't going to like this one, but if you did it will be enjoyable funny, crude and touching 2 hours.8/10 |
