And that is a matter of opinion haha Poltergeist II: The Other Side (Brian Gibson, 1984) Whilst the first film isn't exactly understated, this chucks the kitchen sink in in an effort to outdo it?? One decent image towards the end doth not a great film make.

Naked Blood (1996, Hisayusa Sato) Charming tale of adolescent desires gone wrong. But enough about Adventures In Babysitting ...... Eiji has daddy issues, so he invents a drug called Myson "the ultimate painkiller". Sadly Pa never taught his brat about ethics......whilst not as OTT as I had been led to believe, it is still a fairly disturbing film, even if in terms of graphic screen violence it has been overshadowed by the likes of Saw and other multiplex abortions. There was an original language trailer for Ebola Syndrome on the dvd. Which made me want to watch it again Green Room (2015, Jeremy Saulnier) Before Harry Potter finally makes everyone aware of racist skinheads , here's something from last year. Chekov as bass player in generic punk band? Why not? IT'S CALLED ACTING after all. An English rose as ratty looking skinhead girl? Natch. See previous statement. Whilst there are holes you could drive a truck through, I enjoyed this. Great last line as well.....

Master of the World (1961) The well meaning but ever so slightly bonkers Robur (Vincent Price) builds a zeppelin esq airship - the Albatross - and uses it to stop all wars by threatening to destroy the American, British, German, and Russian fleets unless they demilitarize quickly. Set in the late nineteenth century this AIP production, although sadly not under the direction of Roger Corman, of a Jules Verne story, is a lot of fun. The film is both world conquering and personal as a team of four scientists lead by Charles Bronson (fresh from the previous years The Magnificent Seven) attempt to stop Price and disable or destroy the Albatross - Would you really name your sea crossing airship Albatross? I certainly wouldn't. Cue lots of daring-do, bomb dropping and woeful stock footage with the Albatross is a fine piece of model work. Price is as marvelous as ever but the acting and action honours go to Bronson who of course gets the girl in the end. Rather a fun romp - Recommended. |
