For a short while, Christopher Nolan's depiction of the Dunkirk evacuations feels a little 'off'. He's opted to split things into three stories each with different timescales. Land, which is the men on the beach getting ever more desperate for rescue, this is one week. Sea, a small pleasure craft crewed by civilians heading to assist in the evacuation, this is one day and then Air, with a team of spitfire pilots tasked with keeping enemy aircraft off the ships and soldiers, this is one hour. The stories are not running concurrently. However as the film progresses its clear that this isn't Nolan trying to show off as such, as a narrative device it pays off dividends where as an audience we know something is going to happen because we just saw it, however as we see it from a separate perspective it plays off like hitchcock's bomb under the table and the tension is palpable. The film is well paced at 105 minutes and Nolan cleverly has the spitfire pilot (Tom hardy) represent the efforts of the air force, Mark Rylance as the captain of the civilian vessel represents the sea rescue and so forth. By doing that, the film becomes somewhat intimate in spite of its scope and keeps the plot running smoothly. Definitely a must see.

I don't know if you saw the original Dunkirk with John Mills, but that was also split with the story told from three different perspectives.

A woman travels with her Aunt to a house of her soon to be husband unaware of rumours that haunt the family's name.

This film was never giving a proper release in the 70s and listed as banned which draw my attention to It but W.T.F did I watch some reviews called it a master piece a great film a Lustful fairy tale. Little red riding hood and a horny wolf. From start to finish it is a hard core porn with one weird Morbid story with family incest with a twist.

I highly recommend the unofficial 'sequel' The Beast In Space btw ... it's er, a unique viewing experience imho ...

Enjoyable romcom about two people (Kate Beckinsale and John Cusack) who met one Christmas eve and immediately connect with each other. Believing that if they are meant to be together, its fated and they will end up together.

A few years later with both about to get married they decided to give fate a he!ping hand. Well acted form the two leads and unlike a lot of romantic comedy's its not overly sentimental. 7.5/10

Now watching Annabelle.

The only Bollockywollockz film I've seen is The Strange Case of Dr Jeckyl and Ms.Osbourne or something like that. Disjointed porny shite masquerading as cinema.

My wife and I watched Bernard Rose's Candyman from 1992.

This is a fantastic Clive Barker produced horror film that hasn't aged at all. Daring enough to shoot at the real-life Cabrini–Green housing project (before it was torn down) and to have a black villain.

Also notable for using hypnosis on the lead actress, to help induce trance-like states. A mouthful of bees is just one standout moment. Film score - 8.5/10. Classic genre film.

Viewed it via the UK's Universal Blu-ray:

PQ and AQ is serviceable but there is a lot of room for improvement. It's also the R rated version only, the additional violence only happens during the psychiatrist murder but I would obviously prefer to own an uncut version.

I, like JHarker, wasn't impressed, but the resident arthouse crowd here love it. It appeared to be a blurry Vaseline smeared mess from where i was sitting.

I'm on about The Strange Case of Dr Jeckyl and Ozzy Osbourne not The Beast in Space.
