From Hell (2001, The Hughes Bros) A superior slasher carved from the Alan Moore epic. A host of familiar faces litter the streets of London as a dope fiend wif han dodgee haccent (Parker comes to mind ) finds that all is not what it seems in this lurid film. Great to see Katrin Cartlidge again .... RIP

Oliver 1968 Young orphan Oliver Twist runs away to London to make his fortune meets up with The Artful Dodger trained to pick pockets by his mentor Fagin. Based on the brilliant novel by Charles Dickens this is one of the best versions of the book. Anyone not familiar with this version, this is the musical version created by Lionel Bart from the source novel, young Oliver Reed plays Bill Sikes the hero of the pickpockets and Ron Moody as the old Mentor Fagin. Mark Lester stars as Oliver twist. There is a small appearance by Harry Seacombe. Its a work of art with amazing performances and songs.

Forced To Fight (2011, Jonas Quastel) Gary Daniels has to reenter the ring to pay off his wayward brother's debts. Robocop plays the villain ... looking somewhat dessicated in the process Undemanding and perfunctory kicking film. Tomorrow .... 12 Angry Men methinks

My wife and I just watched the posted It video and very much enjoyed ourselves. I still haven't seen the latest version (I seldom visit the cinema) but have read the book and also seen the tv movie. Am still on the fence as to whether I should try out the latest version so it was good to see a fairly intricate appraisal of the 2017 iteration. btw Was also refreshing to see people be quite critical of the tv movie. The recent blu-ray release saw lots of folks gushing over it and that's quite unjustified imo. It was no Salem's Lot! I would recommend watching this YouTube video, don't be put off by the running time.

The Full Treatment (1960) Also known as Stop Me Before I Kill, this alleged Hammer thriller is a real let down. Ronald Lewis bores, Diane Cilento grates, as director Val Guest phones it in with 107 minutes of tedium Stop me before i nod off, more like. |
