Aye, there will be no difference. VHS and DVD and BD all run at different speeds.

True but not in content with the VHS/DVD.

I had a DVD that was much shorter than another DVD release.

The commuter

Starts off well. Liam neeson is an ex cop whose spent the last ten years in the insurance business. The film shows his daily train commute using time lapse to heighten the sense of the monotony of the characters existence. Then he loses his job throwing his life into crises. A random stranger approaches him on the journey home, offering him a large sum of money if he can find somone out of place on the train. He's armed with minimal details and must use his cop skills to work out who it is.
So far so good. Sadly then the film seems to lose the courage of its convictions. Shits the bed and does the usual Liam Neeson shite. The final third is very poorly written, even based on the disappointment that preceeded it. I noticed Amazon prime in the opening credits so it'll end up on there sooner or later. It's reasonably paced and I thought it was better than taken 3 but I'd wait for streaming.

almost human.

Thomas Milian plays an utter psychopath who orchestrates a kidnapping that results in a whole bunch of corpses. Henry Silva is the ruthless cop intent on bringing him down. Umberto Lenzi delivers an incredibly nasty and totally thrilling crime movie that ranks as one of the more violent ones I've seen. Everyone here has seen it already. If you haven't get it watched.

Final Destination 2
A group of people survive a pile up and then get killed off one by one. (Sounds familiar)
It's the exact same ****ing movie, the only difference is that the first film had an interesting idea, this one at times feels like slapstick and is heavily filled to the brim with coincidences that are only there to move the story. Some entertaining deaths though.
4/10

I'm a little surprised by the low scores for the first two Final Destination films as I thought they were really good on first viewing and am always surprised by how well they hold up to repeated viewings, as I enjoy trying to guess/test myself as to how well I remember each scene and how the death sequences play out.

I did as well, but I was really young when watching the first film

Before Dawn (2013)

A zombie film from Emmerdale star and horror movie enthusiast Dominic Brunt. It's a simple tale about an estranged couple who rent a cottage in the Dales in the hopes of reconciliation. Unfortunately things go ever so pear shaped when they find themselves under attack from zombies.

There's a lot about this film that works. In fact on the whole director / producer / actor Brunt has done a very good job on a very low budget. Perhaps it's his soap opera influences but the opening forty minutes where the couple interact quite normally is probably the best part of the film, it feels realistic and quite natural with tidy acting and a good script. The film in fact only has two people onscreen at any time throughout which puts a lot of strain on Brunt and co-star Joanne Mitchell but together they shine. As does the excellent cinematography with some outstanding Yorkshire scenery on show.

It's when the zombie outbreak begins that things go awry. Firstly there are only one or two of the undead at most - budgetary constraints sadly - meaning there aren't the claustrophobic frights of say Night of the Living Dead nor the tense escape attempt situations, or the uttermost feelings of despair, in fact it becomes a bit meh when it should be gripping. However credit where it's due. The zombie make up and gore is top notch, easily as good as The Walking Dead and other big zombie productions but it's not quite enough to make Before Dawn worthy of keeping in the collection due to the flatness of the zombie outbreak.

Tbh I enjoyed all final destination films , not something i can say lighlty about films where there more than 3, because i tend to get bored or lose interest ,or think they go of the rails or milking the films ...
thought 3rd was the weakest but still a reasonable watch
