SEIZURE! Jonathan Frid ( of Dark Shadows fame ) stars as an author, whose upcoming horror novel seems to be repeating itself in real life in a continual nightmare. Or is it real? Oliver Stone's debut is a real oddity - in many ways compelling and in others slow and confusingly edited. Definitely worth a watch though, not least for Martine Beswick's memorable turn as the Queen Of Evil. FRAGMENT OF FEAR David Hemmings' attempts to uncover the truth behind the murder of an elderly lady in Italy are thwarted back in the UK by people who don't believe him and authorities who claim he's back to his previous drug habit. Excellent psychological thriller given the usual fantastic presentation on blu ray by Indicator. |

Creepshow 2 Received the dvd today so had to put it on after enjoying Creepshow so much the other week. If you have seen Creepshow this is essentially more of the same. 3 short 'creepy' stories, one about a wooden indian, one about some sludge floating about in a pond and the last about a woman who runs over a hitch hiker only for them to continue stalking her. I must admit i enjoyed these a lot more than i should have, just some good little scary stories. They remind me of the type of scary stories you would tell when camping as a youngster. Wife's 12 year old granddaughter is developing an interest in horror films and if it wasn't for a slight bit of nudity on one of the short films these could have been a nice introduction to the genre for her. Would give it a 4/5 and is another one that i can see being watched again. Maniac Cop - Another film i haven't seen since renting at the video shop in the 80's. An ex cop, presumed dead goes on a murderous rampage. A good film what what it is, no intricate plot twists or anything, just a straight forward slasher film where you know who is going to survive and who is going to get killed well before they happen but i still found it very enjoyable. It never ceases to amaze me how a lot of these 80's slasher flicks seem to age a lot better than some of the offerings over the last few years. I mean the plots and acting are not going to win any oscar's but to me the films are just as enjoyable as they were when they came out around 30 years ago. Bit surreal an hour and a half i was that teenage boy using the video player downstairs when my parents had gone out enjoying a slasher film. A solid 3.5/5 Last edited by Heisenberg; 9th February 2018 at 08:46 PM. |

Yeah, thinking about it, apart from the nudity, there isn’t much in this one that wouldn’t be unsuitable for someone that age. I didn’t even think many of the effects were that graphic, even at the end of the hitchiker story, and a youngster could easily handle it (I know I did at that age).

As long as she is forewarned and an adult is available afterwards if she finds any element of the film traumatic, then it's probably a harsh 15 certificate, but you'll know her best.

I don't dislike the first two but the tenth one is a British film with Eileen Daly and other British 'actresses'. If you want to see T&A give them a go. The first one is more of a proper film though. |
