Watched the uncut version of Jungle Holocaust (AKA Last Cannibal World) last night. Obviously not as disturbing as Deodato's next cannibal film, Cannibal Holocaust, but features many graphic and disgusting scenes - namely the live skinning of a crocodile and the scene in which a poor guy's arm is eaten away to the bone by a nest of hungry ants. Luvly. Though pretty stupid at times (including the two male leads - Ivan Rassimov and Massimo Foshci - getting lost in the jungle award-winningly fast, and their superhuman skills at building rafts) it is still a great film. IMO, not as good as CH, but better than Mountain Of The Cannibal God, check it out if you haven't already. Main thing learnt from the film: If you ever find yourself in the company of a unco-operative tribes woman, rape her. She'll luv you for ever more!

Is that Renato Polselli's Delirium Vince? If so then I pretty much agree with everything you said! |

Watched today: La ragazza del vagone letto: Camera Obscura, who have picked up where Sazuma left off, have done a fantastic job with their first Italian Genre Cinema Collection release - a play off of Night Train Murders (itself a play off of the many rape revenge films inspired by Craven's The Last House on the Left), but is more seedy and less violent. It is also not as good as many of its predecessors, and being a fairly late entry into the craze tends to focus more on the debauchery and sex side of the proceedings. 6/10 Drag Me to Hell: - Enjoyable enough, but a cast of unlikeable characters, some slow plot pacing, and a tad too much CGI spoil this abit. The ending is a refreshing change from the usual mainstream servings of bullshit though. 6/10 Executive Koala: A Japanese oddity (but what were you expecting?! ) from the Director of The Calamari Wrestler, this is a darkly comic, martial arts murder mystery - with giant animals. Not recommended viewing if you're high. 6/10 |

No it's the 1979 Peter Maris film (former Video Nasty) with Nick Panouzis as the Vietnam vet who graduates from being a hired vigilante to a serial killer. Quite nasty with a bizarre free-for-all ending but otherwise drivel.

Ahhh... Never seen that one - and based on your comments I don't think I'll be in any rush too either! Cheers Vince.

It's a real mess of a film that just doesn't know what it's supposed to be. The Vietnam flashbacks are horrendously cheap and the storyline (a group of business guys set up a vigilante committee and hire a Vietnam vet who turns out to be an A-1 homicidal fruitcake) is just ridiculous. Topless nudity, quite bloody (women get stabbed, pitchforked, impaled, yadda-yadda) and bloody awful. Would pass uncut today without problems but it's not worth anyone bothering with really. |

Just watched: toolbox murders.jpg First time I have ever seen the uncut version and found it very boring and unpleasant to look at (not becuase of the gore, which is pretty mild) becuase of the dull setting. The best thing about the dvd was the interview with Kelly Nichols. Its nice to see somebody so enthusiastic about horror. Last edited by Pete; 7th January 2010 at 08:23 PM. |
