Yeah, bit of a daft story but it’s worth watching just for the opening scene, absolutely fantastic filmmaking

I do love the Criterion Collection BD release of The Thin Red Line but haven't watched it since 2012, so it's long overdue (nearly) three hours of my time. It's an amazing filmmaking achievement and, like most of Terrence Malick's films, something you really have to immerse yourself in to fully appreciate its greatness.
