Strait-Jacket (1964)
Joan Crawford grabs her chopper and gives the six million dollar man head..and thus so begins William Castles Straight-Jacket, probably one of the best Psycho-biddy films in the sub-genre they, not me, call hagsploitation. After 20years in an asylum Joan Crawford as Lucy Harbin has been released into the care of her daughter Diane Baker as Carol Cutler, but things slowly slide Joan back into her old ways as the lure of the axe is ever present..Mind you if you live on a farm where George Kennedy as Leo is constantly lobbing the heads off of chickens then your probably gonna go a bit batty I suppose..Castles Strait-Jacket is a superb melodramatic potboiler that is part soap opera part Psycho influence knock off. There is something quite iconic about seeing Joan wielding an axe like Conan in drag. If you enjoyed William Castles other psychodrama Homicidal (1961), then I'm pretty sure you will get a kick out of this Robert Bloch written story of madness and family ties, I mean he should know...

Miami Connection (1987, Richard Park) Once in a lifetime comes a motion picture. That picture is Blue Rita This on the other hand ... Dragon Sound, local wannabes lose their residency after their new singers brother takes a dislike to her new interest. Frankly quite cracked, due to YK Kim, a Korean kicking man for whom English isn't even his third language . Sort of like a HK style flick, made with muricans AHEM. Highly Recommended.

It's that essential Bloody phone. Malibu Express (1985, SIDARIS) Being principally the adventures of ... Coby Abeliene Private Eye Featuring Sybil Danning in an unusual wee performance. She's the one who hires him to investigate something. I can't say more as the laughter is drowning out the dialogue. Tis surely a comedy?

Wild Beasts(1984) Animals in a zoo go berserk and break out after being contaminated by drugs in the water supply. and go on the rampage in Germany killing everybody in their path. Directed by Franco Prosperi who did those mondo movies, this is a pretty entertaining and exploitative watch, with some explicit gore and nudity. with killer elephants, lions and tigers, and even a polar bear terrorising a school. some of the effects look a bit cheap, but the use of real animals in many of the scenes is pretty effective. although, it is obvious that actual animals did get harmed in this film, and some very nasty cruelty to rats that get burnt alive after they attack a couple of lovers in a car. rats always get a raw deal in Italian films one memorable scene though involves a cheetah chasing a woman in her beetle car, and is quite well done. and an elephant stomping on a womans head. and it was nice to see old favourite lorraine de Selle from cannibal Ferox again playing the part of a professor. an okay watch, even if it does lose its way a bit. and something a bit different from the italians. 71 out of 100.

Road Trip (2000) A great bunch of likable leads - Breckin Meyer, Seann William Scott, Paulo Costanzo, DJ Qualls, Tom Green and Amy Smart - and a script that is both interesting and has a bit of heart make this one of the best high school comedies of it's era. Not as gross out as some but genuinely laugh out loud funny in places, even nigh on twenty years later - Road Trip is one of those films i think i'll always go back to when in need of a laugh. Oh and i'd take Road Trip's in mini bus version of Twisted Sister's I Wanna Rock over Wayne's Worlds Bohemian Rhapsody any day of the week. |

The Chilling 1989. After a power cut at a cryogenic facility, frozen bodies are slowly being thawed out then turn to zombies. Even from the tagline i knew this was a bad cheesy movie, but decided to give it a go, after watching Linda Blair in Witchery, i couldn't take her serious after that being in another horror film, Dan Haggerty and Troy Donahue star along. With a good story line the film did seem to go in the right direction after the first 10-15 minutes then went down quicker than a Thai hooker, not one to rush and watch unless its a cheesy film fest lined up.
