St. Agatha (2018)

Numerous creepy dream sequences do not automatically make a good horror film, but a decent script does.

Sadly St. Agatha has too much of the former and none of the latter and is yet another mess from Darren Lynn Bousman.

Over hyped website Bloody Disgusting have quotes all over the dvd sleeve saying how much they love this film. They really have no idea.

Beyond White Space (2018)

An indie sci-fi film that looks terrific and boasts excellent SFX in it's numerous space sequences.

But it's totally let down by poor dialogue and less than average performances meaning although visually impressive it was all a bit boring.

I aim to give this one another watch as it was almost four in the morning when it finished.

The Faculty
A group of high school students notice that their teachers are acting wierd, the coach isn't aggressive the alcoholic is on water and the nurse hasn't got a cold. So what could it be.... Alien Parasites.
One I ain't seen in years and despite some dated special effects is still a disturbing sci fi horror movie. Decent cast as well.

The Lost City of Z (2016)

The portrayal of real events surrounding the British explorer Percy Fawcett, who was sent to Brazil and made several attempts to find a supposed ancient lost city in the Amazon.

A very well made and earnest film that was constantly intriguing with one or two intense sequences whilst never quite gripping me. Both Charlie Hunnam and Robert Pattinson were excellent in what was essentially a throwback to classic film making from years gone by.

I think this is one of those films that may stay with me and demand a rewatch.

Conan the Destroyer
Conan is asked to escort a princess to pick up a crystal so a to get a horn to awaken a god. Only the queens intent is for evil.
A lot camper than Barbarian, but nonetheless an enjoyable 2 hour action romp. Arnie just comes up with some of the corniest lines throughout.

Night of the Demon(1957)

Dana Andrews is an american psychologist chap who comes to london to expose the leader of an occult group. and his colleague dies in a mystery accident after falling foul of the satanists.

Top notch old style horror film full of atmosphere and solid acting. and directed by that chap jacques Tourneur who did the Cat people.
Dana andrews who was excellent in Laura gives a convincing performance who is at first sceptic about demons and witchcraft but eventually changes his mind after being cursed.
Peggy Cummins also gives a decent turn as the female lead. and Niall MacGinnis is excellent as the mad warlock who likes entertaining the local children with his magic act.

the only minor quibble is the actual demon, which, to be honest is pretty effective, but also a bit comical at the same time. although, i would still take this over a cgi demon anyday.

but a great watch. and full of creepy scenes, especially in the woods.
with even a couple of great comedy moments, especially a hilarious seance with hysterical singing. 82 out of 100.

Devil Hunter (El Canibal) 1980.

a model is kidnapped and her agent pays an ex Vietnam vet to find her unaware in the jungle where she is, a tribe live there and worship a Cannibal god.

From Director Jess Franco, brings this new release of the video nastie era. why was this banned? Me and Angie watched it with a puzzled face and laughter. Al Cliver stars as the model hunter, who is promised 10 per cent of the ransom. The make-up, Special effects are not the greatest, its like they re-used the same scenery for different parts of the film and the dubbing is worse that a Chinese film. to have on for background noise or pass time may help.

Species

Government alien/human hybrid goes on a shagging spree, a cast of straight to video stars chase her around los angeles. Loved this when first released but seems dated & awkward now, ok movie but not as much fun as when i was 15.
