Species: The Awakening (2007)

Good characters and a sympathetic human / alien hybrid as well as solid direction and storytelling plus some great effects and a monster mash finale mean Species: The Awakening is a far better than expected sequel.

Wither

Scandy Evil Dead clone. Several unsuspecting fools think they are off for naughtiness and hijinks. BUT ....
Very free with the claret, so recommended to gore hounds here. Undemanding.

After the horror of October going to have a more light hearted November and have a comedy month.

Started with .

A film that proved that the Austrian oak could do comedy and was actually pretty good at it. Arnie and Devito fit together perfectly as the chalk and cheese twins. 8/10

Now watching

Never Too Young To Rock

Freddie Jones and one of the Fenn St Gang drive about looking for the zeitgeist. It being the '70s .... glam is the order of the day.
A truly British 'road movie'.
Mind-bogglingly dull for stretches (and that's just The Rubettes ), it nonetheless holds the attention as a time capsule if anything ...
Some fascinating contemporary extras (& a comm!) make the dvd worth it though ahem.

The Hallow 2015.

A family move to a remote house just beyond them is the woods known to locals 'The Hallow'. They end up in a fight with something that lurks in there.

The plot may sound like something that may have been done before and boring etc, this was different, based on folklore, myth and legends. The film focuses more on atmosphere and tension rather than jump scenes. Right from the start it becomes interesting and may seem a little slow to the end but the suspense is kept up, it's not edge of your seat stuff but worth a watch in the dark.

Grimsby (2016)

Stupid, disgusting and inappropriate. I loved it!

As with my first viewing, this is recommended to absolutely nobody on here.

Colin 2008.

Colin, a young man is bitten by a zombie and slowly turns, mindlessly wanders the street of the apocalyptic carnage.

This seemed to be a good idea and doing it on a budget of £45, there is a element of P.O.V. found footage, the acting made it believable that the zombies were real with one or two tense moments and decent make up, only downsides was there was a bit of low lighting and some camera shots can make you have motion sickness. Not one I could watch over and over (IMO).
