The Alligator People. 1959.

A woman placed under hypnosis recounts a story on how she lost her husband and a house in the bayou.

This was a fun flick, it may be low budget and some laughable moments, but does come with some decent styled make up effects. its slow paced at the start and does get better right up to the end . The acting is top notch from Beverly Garland our innocent heroine who tries to find her husband and not getting much help from Frieda Inescort, who always seemed like a cold heart person. This is worth a watch for the tense and atmospheric tone.

Needful Things (1993)

Excellent adaptation of Stephen King's sprawling and brutally dark novel. There's both black comedy and bloody thrills and a standout performance from the late, great Max Von Sydow as Leland Gaunt, a mysterious man who opens his shop full of things that the people of Castle Rock find they can't live without and thus enter into vengeful pacts against one another as way of payment.

As the film goes on the acts turn from mere pranks to deadly situations culminating in a final showdown in the streets between Gaunt and Ed Harris' sheriff in a fiery finale.

The film plays out in almost episodic format to begin with but as events escalate (Some are genuinely horrific) the film grips you with it's icy cold clutches and doesn't let go.

As well as Harris, there are fine performances from Bonnie Bedelia, a repressed Amanda Plummer and a bonkers J.T. Walsh, but the film belongs to Von Sydow who captures his character (no spoilers) perfectly.

Brilliant book and film just hope someone can release the 3 hour version of this.

The Crazies. 1973.

A biological weapon is released in the small town of Evan's City leading to insanity and murder by the locals.

George Romero done it again, takes a low budget movie and turn t into a classic thriller/horror, it may not be perfect with some minor flaws but they can be ignored with a good cast of actors who make it believable with a mix of paranoia and some acting that may seem wooden or go over the top. It is a fairly steady paced film with a lot of shooting and not much gore and still worth a look.

Final Mission (1984, Cirio H Santiago)

What's a man to do? Go on an absolutely bloody rampage, that's what.
When his world is turned upside down, Vince Deacon does what any man would do, and kill every one within spitting distance. Up to CHS' usual standard cough. Recommended AF

The Man With The Two Brains. 1983.

A brilliant neurosurgeon marries a femme fatale after hitting her with a car, they travel to Vienna and the doctor has a mind link with a brain in a jar.

Madcap 80s movie co-written and starring Steve Martin as Dr Michael Hfuhruhurr, having not seen it in ages you kinda forget some of the adult humour in it and the 'scum queen' insult. Kathleen Turner plays the money grabbing Delores who adds her comedy side and sinister side. Still a good comedy flick.

Scar. 2005.

A woman and her friend decide to find out what happened to their friend and find terror when they investigate it.

Aside from having Dee Wallace in this film, it doesn't have much going for it, bad acting, weak story line and really crap direction, I think the creators tried to add a twist in the story that didn't pan out well. Avoid
