The first is the only one I rate. The rest are variations on that theme, but with less subtlety

I suspected so, it's how sequels work in the majority of cases unfortunately.

If they go down the silly bombastic jump scare route of the first half hour of the original then they won't be stopping in this collection very long.

I completely understand why it is one of your "go to" films – it's a well-made film which is easy to watch, and very entertaining. Like I said, perfect for a Saturday evening.

Despite it's reputation, as with Who Dares Wins, North Sea Hijack probably portrays one of the more realistic anti terrorist raids with the sheer speed and directness of the assault rather than OTT gun battles.

You could nip out of the room for two minutes and you'd pretty much miss it.

Indeed! Or Monday evening even

Relic (2020, Natalie Erika James)

A 3 hander revolving around familial disputes. Stop running at the back there!!
Fairly reasonably unsettling set up with an allegorical twist, twas a bitty too J horror at the end but it passed by unsluggishly (?) ahem. In time honoured fashion, the poster intrigued me ...

I agree about the realism and pace.

Some of the decision-making is particularly ruthless and it neatly treads the line between feelgood and cheesy so there's an appropriate ending which perfectly fits the characters and overall tone of the film.

Just don't watch it with someone who works "offshore", as I found to my hilarious cost

YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN (1974)

Excellent Mel Brooks parody on the Universal Frankenstein films, taking ideas from the series.
As well as the great comedy moments, the movie has use of the original Frankenstein movies lab equipment. The sets and the castle look great and along with being shot in black and white this a must see for any Universal Horror fan.

A young female reported is constantly getting a raw deal from her sexist boss giving her really pointless stories to cover. Her latest is to go and meet a farmer who claims his chickens have turned on him and he keeps getting attacked. She agrees to do this one last stupid story with the promise that her next assignment would be the real deal. Not taking this one bit serious she takes her cameraman boyfriend to do the interview and also carry out a little experiment with a canary to prove the farmer is full of it but the canary actually attacks the farmer slicing under his eye. But this is not an isolated incident and many other victims of bird attacks start to come forward but she is still a little skeptical until the birds go crazy and start attacking villages and trains and trying to eat kids

This film is hilarious terrible acting terrible dialogue terrible decision making by every person in the film there is not a bit of common sense in any person in the entire film The attack scenes are brilliant apart from all the slow-mo b*ll*x. There is obviously the ethical side of this whole thing too where you can see in some of the attacks that someone off screen is just throwing the birds with force at people and one scene where the birds are tied to someone attacking from pure distress which is a little off putting but if you can look past that there is plenty of gore and fun to be had. Apart from the part where the leading man starts talking to his penis

7/10
