Little Fockers Having had a health scare, Robert De Niro appoints in son in-law Ben Stiller the potential head of the family. The usual comic hijinks and misunderstandings occur. The 3rd in the series is as enjoyable as the previous 2 films. This role and his role in Analyze This are De Niro's best comedic roles, his looks of disdain are quite intimidating. Lock Up Sylvester Stallone is moved from a low risk jail to one of the worst because Warden Donald Sutherland wants revenge. A fine effort, well worth a watch if your bored and come across it. Mighty ducks Sequel in which sees The Ducks team up with other players from America in order to compete in a Junior International Tournament. I love the 3 Duck's movies therefore I did enjoy this even though some Hockey scenes are a bit unrealistic. |

Castle Of The Creeping Flesh (1968, Adrian Hoven) Gothic malarkey with Michel Lemoine, Howard Vernon and Janine Reynaud? Er, sold ahem. Quite strong for the period I felt. Plus you get to see HV in a kilt Ahem. A lot of fun this one, what with the clashing of the setting and the sordid shenanigans within these environs. Awfully dubbed dvd (vhs rip?) I found in a bin. This new BD should reveal a "hidden gem", as tis a tad hazy in places.

The Goldfinch (2019) ★★ I'd say this was a dull adaptation of a great book, a film which is superbly filmed by Roger Deakins and has exceptional costumes and production decoration, but that wouldn't be entirely true because I haven't read the book. After watching this, I'm in no rush to rectify that. The film is tedious, it doesn't have any narrative urgency or soul, so just meanders along for what seems like double the 150 minute running time. When it finished, I was left unfulfilled; things happened to characters I didn't know or care about, the events were fairly uninspiring and lacking an emotional hook, making it very difficult to care about what happens. It was a chore to watch, so I felt making it to the end credits was an achievement. The score is for the visuals which reminded me of Tom Ford's wonderful A Single Man, a vastly superior film which I wished I was watching instead of this, rather than for any enjoyment there is to be had.

The Body (1970) the-body-dv.jpg Ok, watched this here 70's documentary about the body, and loved it, i was fascinated and moved in equal measure, was a random purchase from the Network sale a while back that lured me in due to a soundtrack by Roger Waters of Pink Floyd in his early psych-out phase, apparently the last tune features all of the Floyds. So it's basically a documentary but it is done in quite a random style flitting here and there, with film of inside the body, x-rays, skin as a landscape etc, but it's just generally about living and the phases of life. Taking in everything from birth to death, with snippets of dialogue from everyday people, a lot of people would probably find this a bit random and tedious but i was slightly pissed so i just went with the vibe and really enjoyed it. I could see how this may have influenced or informed the Dark side of the Moon album in many ways. Recommended if you like vague arty weird documentary type thingies. 8/10
