Night Of The Hunter. 1955.

A religious fanatic marries a widow to get close to her children in order to find where their father hid a stash of money from a robbery,

This has to be one of Robert Mitchum's finest performance except for Cape Fear, here he plays a pastor who hears a fellow inmate talking about a load of cash and decides he wants it all and goes in search for it. This can be seen as a tense thriller but also a child's nightmare of the boogeyman in human form. Chales laughton was a great actor and just a shame he didn't direct anything else as he had a gift to create such a memorable movie with Stanley Cortez providing great photography and Walter Schumm providing a dark haunting soundtrack.

There was a remake that was released in 1991 starring Richard Chamberlain, even though he is a good actor it doesn't even hold a light to this masterpiece as it can lack the tension that this one had.

Armageddon

A meteor is going to wipe out Earth and it's up to Deep Hole Drillers led by Bruce Willis to save the day. Very much your typical Don Simpson Produced, Michael Bay Directed, 90's F/X blockbuster which is entertaining fun if you are in the mood for it.

They didn't scrape on the budget explosions and destruction galore. Even though I hate 3D films, this one would have been one of the decent ones.

Burnt

Bradley Cooper is a top Chef who is overcoming some addictions so he tries to rebuild by winning a 3rd Michellin Star at the Restaurant run by Daniel Bruehl. It's decent and worth a watch but I'm not sure it's a premise for a film. It's more like a TV special.

Also I recently acquired and watch Drive In Delirium 80's Maximum Overdrive and New Batch.

At first I thought it was going to be like The Grindhouse Trailer Classics but realized that it wasn't just that

I did rather enjoy them as there were some really good Trailers on them and even though it's not really their fault, I found the Video Nasty Trailers to be a moot point considering I have the Nucleus DVD's

I must admit I did think that Trailers for the really well known films such as Terminator and Friday 13th were unnecessary as surely people would have seen those Trailers and preferred something different.

From DuskTill Dawn 1996.

Two Criminal Brothers Seth and Ritchie need to cross the Mexican Border, they kidnap a former preacher and his children in their motor home and arrive at a bar to where the staff aren't what they appear to be.

When this film was released, a friend of mine got and we watched it, thinking it was a crime chase thriller, we were going to switch it off till they bar scene and got interesting then became a horror movie that got more interesting and became a favourite of mine.

Even though Robert Rodriguez directed this and Quentin Tarantino wrote the screen play, the first half has Tarantino hallmark over it then the second part is Rodriguez. Even the dialogue between Clooney and Kietel is tense as you don't know what will set him off, Tarantino seems to play the psychotic unbalanced brother who seems doesn't like to be insulted by being called nuts while in the camper toilet. I'm gonna go on a whim and say that Tom Savini brought the words "Cock Shot" to a whole new different meaning.

The make-up for the vampires were decent with Robert Kurtzman supervising it and how a headless vampire managed to turn into a dog was a bit of a laugh, i remember a few people hating it for the slow build up but that's what makes it more enjoyable as it goes one way then another way.

From DuskTill Dawn 2: Texas Blood Money. 1999.

five career criminals meet in Mexico to pull off a heist, they soon find themselves fending off vampires and police at the same time.

Instead of being set in the Titty Twister Bar that makes a small appearance after somehow it was refurbished from the first film, this takes place out in the open on other places and everyone almost getting the bite. The plot seems simple yet daft and the acting makes it more laughable than anything horror except the blood splatter which is always good to see. I saw this when it came out and wasn't keen on it and still not keen on it, even though Danny Trejo returns as a different character and a cameo appearance by Bruce Campbell.

From DuskTill Dawn 3. The Hangman's Daughter. 1999.

A escape convict and a hostage, A author with a newly wed couple take shelter in a Inn/Brothel and find themselves trapped by a vampire priestess.

This goes back to the early 1890s-1900s and looks at the recreation of Santanico Pandemonium, I thought this one was just as bad as number two but after re-watching it it's a lot better than the previous film, like the first film it does start off like a crime/western then half way through becomes a horror movie. There is a decent cast from Michael Perks, Temuera Morrison and Sonia Braga as the Madame and Danny Trejo making a appearance in another different role and playing a vampire, even though this is a prequel it does match up to the first film.

Does anyone know if the T.V. series is any good or best just avoiding it?

I like all three Dusk films. Hangman's Daughter is the second best of the three and is a lot of fun. I didn't like the second on first viewing but have come to enjoy it over the years.

I was looking into the three film set myself but realised that feature length doc Full Tilt Boogie isn't included so didn't bother as i'd have to keep the dvd anyway to get that.

Warning: Do Not Play. (Aka Amjeon). 2019.

Mi-Jung has aspirations to be a film director, she hears rumours of a film that was shown at a film festival. When she finds a clip and posts it online to find the director she is told to delete it and to never find the film.

From South Korea director Kim Jin-Won who gave us the found footage The Butcher Tries his best to give out another horror based on the supernatural, this seemed to have potential but falls flat at the last act. Seo Ye-Ji plays the young director who goes in search of a urban legend surrounding a movie and it's director but finds something else. The plot of it is what attracted to me but it didn't seem to play out well, one I may not return to.
