Alien 3 (1992)

If Alien was the Old Dark House in space and Aliens was a glorified action move then Alien 3 is a good old slasher movie with the Xenomorph dispatching the inhabitants of a run down penal colony prison one by one. The Assembly Cut brings the character to life, in fact in the case of Paul McGann's disturbed inmate, Golic, gives them a whole new dimension which in turn makes the film itself a more involving viewing experience.

So with characters you care about, suddenly the whole slasher movie aspect takes on a dare i say it, more thrilling aspect. The surprises surprise and the shocks definitely shock.

Recommended but only the 2hr 25 minute work print / Assembly cut version.

The Nostril Picker. 1993.

A loner is given the ability to transform into a girl and lures others to their deaths.

I got no idea what made me watch this as I hadn't seen it since the VHS days, surprisingly not many of the stars in this went on to do other things as it seems a one hit wonder for them. The writing seems to have a 70s tone to it and no one will ever get award for their portrayal. It is very low budget as no one seems to want to change their clothes very often. Yet I still laughed at this.

Deathstalker II. 1987.

A banished Princess encourages Deathstalker to help win her kingdom back from a evil sorcerer and her clone.

The second Deathstalker film that is more of a comedy with some intentional jokes, not the best acting but has a decent background score. John Terlesky plays the role from Rick Hill and isn't muscle bound as he is depicted in the poster. There seems to be one or two quirky comments that can make you smile, a good bar fight and a comment that's been ripped off by a Bond film. This was a hoot, like the previous film there is one or two topless females on show.

TILL DEATH US DO PART (1968)

The movie follows Alf though from WWII and the Blitz, the birth of his daughter Rita in 1942 and then on to the 1960's and the marriage of his daughter and the World Cup Final in 1966.
Anyone who knows Alf Garnett will know what this movie contains. I don't think you will ever see this movie on TV again.
Great stuff!

Prey Of The Jaguar (1996, David Decoteau)

If I say there's a male character in lycra in this, is it any surprise??
Ahem. A man finds comfort in revenge when a tragedy strikes and leaves him at a loose end.
Camper than most due to the villian tbh. Maxwell Caulfield stands tall as the titular chap. Almost worthy of RLM, it at least entertained me.

The Possession Of Hannah Grace. 2018.

A former police officer takes on a job in a hospital morgue, when a body arrives during a night shift, she feels something is not right with the body.

I went into this on a blind watch, not really a original setting, hospitals can be creepy even on the night shifts but a job is a job and pays the bills. There is a exorcism scene right at the start so don't expect it to be spectacular, just your basic run of the mill with a good little twist and a ending we expect from a exorcism.

The acting isn't too bad in this, there is some good suspenseful moments build up and a few predictable jump scenes and some bone crunching moments, the use of modern day lights that are on a sensor does give it the creepy atmospheric tone. Not the best possession movie but certainly not the worst.

Fisherman's Friends 2: One And All

The band is back and after a PR Course and taking on a new member, James Purefoy has enough and has a breakdown, he befriends a fellow Singer (Imelda May) who has similar problems. If you liked the first one, you'd probably like this one, it has some funny moments as well as recreating a scene from The Naked Gun.

Deathstalker

A Swordsman goes on a quest to save a Princess and takes part in a Gladiator Tournament. Done in 1983, I can see this being popular in the early days of Video Rentals. It's short so that's in it's favor but I hoped that there would have been more focus on the Tournament.

Not exactly the greatest Acted Film but that's something that wasn't expected and the Effects weren't bad considering either. I'm surprised that the BBFC didn't take exception to the treatment of the Women (Sexual Assault wise)
