Lake Placid 3. 2010. Killer crocodile and her offspring attack a small town. Set at some point after the second one, there is no more old granny feeding or keeping things a secret from the local authority...eek sorry spoiler alert, there is more CGI used in this one. We have Michael Ironside as the local sheriff who still seems a pretty good bad ass, Yancy Butler as the big game hunter who seems to know the woods better than anyone, yet these two main stars couldn't save this film, halfway through this one became background noise. I know there is 2 more Lake Placid films and Lake Placid vs Anaconda but they will be bypassed. 250px-Lakeplacid3.jpg

Spies Like Us. 1985. To C.I.A employees are picked out from a exam test to be great candidates for a mission only to discover they are used as decoys. Chevy Chase and Dan Arkroyd play the two lead roles who are selected for a exam, caught cheating and selected for mission on Nuclear War. The two share good comedy, there is some daft jokes and stupid humour but still makes you laugh and a small cameo appearances from well known directors from the 80s. Having not seen this for a good while it still managed to make me laugh a lot even with the G force training scene. MV5BMTc1MDQ5MTA1OV5BMl5BanBnXkFtZTgwMzE2MzQxMDE@._V1_.jpg

The Pact. 2012. A woman coming to terms with her mother's death and sister's disappearance, uncovers a dark secret in her childhood home. This was a decent atmospheric film that doesn't exactly have you sitting on the edge of your seat but does hold you attention, Nicholas McCarthy created a 10-12 minutes short video and a year later managed to do a full length feature film. It does have a supernatural element, while watching this I kept thinking of the San Pedro Haunting that was documented in 1988 and where this film was made, but it did give us a curve ball twist. Caity Lotz plays Annie who tries to figure out what is going on within the house along with her daughter. Casper Van Dien tags along, his film credits may not be the best Since Starship Troopers but this one shows how serious he can act, Haley Hudson does do a good part as the psychic who has a creepy complexion about her and suits her character well. This is something worth watching. The-Pact-2012-Movie.jpg

An Evening With Beverly Luff Lin (2018, Jim Hosking) I enjoyed this comedy film. A woman is disatisified with her lot. A chance encounter relights a slumbering desire in her. Luckily not as arch as his previous film, this offbeat wee thing has a capable cast and whilst not groundbreaking in any way pleased the demon greatly. Unlike flipping Dagon Watcher (2022, Chloe Okuno) Apparently she did a segment of VHS94, but I've tried to blot that one out of the memory ahem. Moving to a new country? Sounds delightful. Or does it? Someone from It Follows finds that not speaking da lingo puts her at a disadvantage somewhat. I only watched this due to one cast member tbh. Not her either btw. Decent enough if slightly worn premise did just fall at the last fence for me with the tropes and that. Shame.

The Sender (1982, Roger Christian) A young man is admitted to a hospital after a day out at the lake. His doctor notices slight discrepancies in his story. But there's even more to this tale ... I've always loved this oddity. Featuring a few British actors, this one has an unusual protagonist who is almost mute, luckily he makes up for it in other ways. It even has an ending that I approve of

Transformers. 2007. A ancient battle between two Cybertronian races happen on Earth with a teenager in the middle who may hold the key to stop the Decepticons and help the Autobots. Being a fan of the old 80s cartoon I was a bit hesitant with a full length live action feature but always had high hopes for Michael Bay to pull it off as he has done great movies in the past. At times the acting can be funny, soldiers in a battle and speaking to a call centre operator asking if they want a premium package, always happens though, your in a rush and someone wants to offer you a different pay package. Will admit the visual effects were better than I thought and the action sequences through the city and Josh Duhamel trying to be a bad ass but still manages to try and be the second hero next to Shia. Decent thing the makers done was bring in Peter Cullen who voiced Optimus in the cartoons and done the voice in this of the same character. Transformers07.jpg Do the sequels get better as the franchise goes on or is there a cut off point??
