Street Fighter

Film based on the Computer Game which sees Jean-Claude Van Damme lead a team of Soldiers against an army lead by a maniacal Raul Julia. This film gets a lot of stick and Julia certainly goes for it and Van Damme is Van Damme but it's a lot of fun.

Zombie Dead

Yes I know it's Burial Ground but that slipped me by and I spotted the Zombie Dead DVD in CEX and I wanted to check it out before the re-release and I'm glad I did. This was nothing special and nothing that I haven't seen before other than the oldest teenager in film history. A group of people move into a building where Zombies are. That's all really.

Alien Autopsy

Ant and Dec in their debut (And only) leading roles in a film about 2 guys gaining possession of a video of a Alien Autopsy but it's damaged and they have to recreate it in order to pay off an investor and to sell it across the world. It's an entertaining enough.

Welcome To The Jungle. 2003.

Bounty Hunter Beck is hired to go to South America and bring back his employers step-son and discovers bringing him home may not be easy with the town's oppressive operator.

The guy formerly known as The Rock plays a bounty hunter/chef who is sent to track down Seann William Scott south of the border. Against his will The Rock ends up on a trek through the depths of the Mexican jungle looking for some ancient artefact. Seann William Scott plays the wanted bounty who causes a stir with town operator Christopher Walker who decides that everyone should pay a large finders fee. Scotsman Ewan Bremner plays the travel operator who is also a Irishman in a kilt and gives a impressive battle speech with bagpipes. I actually forgot how funny this was and can make a grown man fear little monkeys.

Dwayne shows he can have a comical side outside WWE with a look of fear as he sees a monkey after being drugged by a fruit

Police Academy. 1984.

One of the stupid yet funniest mid 80s films, right at the title card of explaining the mayor has lifted restrictions of signing up to the police force, you know it will be a disaster. There is a good character build up of troublemaker Mahoney striking a deal with a police captain and meeting motormouth Jones. Security guard Tackleberry who shoots first and asks about it later, bullied Barbara who thinks the academy will toughen him.up and Thompson who seems to come from a posh family. Fackler is the accident prone who causes mayhem where ever he can.

The jokes in this have never really aged and still make you laugh, Mahoney seems to enjoy winding up his instructor Harris, but Jones does try get the last laugh in by imitating a horse. Lassard does bring the comedy on can't remembering numbers to them remembering them and has a good speech with someone under the podium and two cadets who are bullies end up at the wrong bar.
Classic comedy.

Nice to read your thoughts there MrB. I've not seen Police Academy or any of its sequels in so so long. The first one always stood as slightly less juvenile I thought. They got sillier and sillier after that.

'Police Academy' was an American version of 'Carry On Constable'!

It has been a while since I have seen them myself, they do get daft as they go on but will be watching them all but not sure about Mission to Moscow though.

Police Academy 2: Their First Assignment. 1985.

A gang terrorising a precinct that's under the command of Captain Pete Lassard who contacts the Academy and requests new recruits. Lieutenant Mauser plans to sabotage everything so he can be in charge.

Mahoney, Hightower, Tackleberry, Jones, Fackler and Hooks are sent to the precinct that you know the area is not well policed when you see a old granny smashing a police station light and feeling proud about it and Cheif Hurst getting egged. We are introduced to new characters, not exactly hygienic Schtulman and pet dog Lou, Dooley who is partnered with Fackler and teaches him how to be community friendly. Tackleberry getting a new partner Kathleen Kirkland. Proctor who follows in the steps of Mauser but isn't the sharp tool in the box and Mouser himself who becomes the 'Butt' of Mahoney's jokes. The gang terrorising the area is led by Zed played brilliantly by Bobcat Goldthwait and enjoys tormenting Mr Sweetchuck.

The laughs are plenty in this sale with Captain Lassard getting a new make over, Art Metrano who plays the hated watch commander must have had a laugh doing this and able to keep a straight face with his hairy hands and Lance Kinsey as his loyal henchman who knows the address of The Blue Oyster bar that makes a small return from the first film. There is a few deleted scenes that really should have been kept in as they could have generated more hatred at Mauser and create more laughs.
