Puppet On A Chain. 1971.

Sven-Bertil Taube plays the U.S. Agent sent to Amsterdam to investigate a heroin smuggling ring after 3 agents are killed in a professional hit. This was a mix of James Bond even though Vladek Sheybal played a villain in a Bond film and a touch of The French Connection. Using Amsterdam as the main focus where drug use is rife and the red light district is a good setting but think the film is known for the epic boat chase that was probably inspiration for the Dick Maas 1987 movie. The film manages to keep a steady pace.with a few twists and turns added in for the suspense. One I'd certainly come back to view, even though some of the visual effects are a bit out of date.

It's available via YouTube, certainly worth a watch.

Run Hide Fight. 2020.

Die Hard in a school with Isabel May playing unpopular teen Zoe who is shown how to fire a gun by dad Thomas Jane and helps rescue some pupils when a few teens decide to hold the school hostage and then stream it online. The late Treat Williams plays the local sheriff who is brought in to deal with the trigger happy teens. Ok there is one or two flaws in this film but this was a small decent action flick. You can tell the teens are wanting attention and battling a mental health issue that leads to hearing and seeing things and our lead character seeing the ghost of her late mother which seems a bit of a wasted talent for Rahda Mitchell.

Section 8. 2022.

A former soldier sentenced to life in prison for killing those responsible for his wife and son's death. He is approached by his former commanding officer to join a secret ops and the prison sentence will be dropped.

This seemed to start well with Ryan Kwanten who is working with his mechanic uncle Mickey Rourke and adjusting to a quiet life. Dolph Lundgren is the old army buddy working under the radar looking to take down a organisation. Scott Adkins appears as the hitman who manages to kick ass in a casino. This was a very much B grade movie considering great actors but their talent is wasted by either sloppy writing or direction...or maybe both. When the film is 30-40 minutes in, this goes downhill and not much of a recovery after that. Not sure if I will come back to this or not.

Curve. 2015.

Another simple tale of a girl having doubts about her up and coming marriage, taking a detour on the back roads in the middle of nowhere, car breaks down and some guy conveniently shows up, fixes the car, accepts a ride and he turns out to be a psycho.

Something we have learned from horror is never take the back roads cos you never know who or what you may run into. This definitely feels like it was inspired by the hitcher with the mind games that was played out and the battle of survival and try to turn things around on the psycho. The two main leads Julianne Hough and Teddy Sears actuallydone a decent job with a bit of creative writing and direction. This is worth a watch but wouldn't rush out to but it unless it's at a decent low price.

El Gringo. 2012.

Scott Adkins plays a DEA agent who has a bag full of money that is slipped out and now has to fend off those who want it and try get out of the small city.

A take on the spaghetti western with our lead actor who walks into a small place and we never know his name bit we get flash backs on what happened to him and the guy in the boot of the car. He over pays for a glass of water and then becomes a target for the cartel who want his money which results in a decent shot out. Christian Slater makes a appearance as the head of the agency who wants to clear things up and get the money. B grade movie that's worth a watch.

Lady Reporter

Cynthia Rothrock is an American Cop who is sent to Hong Kong to go undercover as a Reporter in order to stop a Counterfeiting Ring. Interesting premise with some good Action Scenes along with some humor.

Untold Story

Police investigate the supposed owner of a Café after Limbs are discovered on a Beach and reports of a missing Family. What they discover is a Murderer who disposes of the bodies in the Dumplings he serves.

Well what can be said about this one but congratulate 88 Films on finding a Censor who must have been having a good day because this is everything that I read about and I was still stunned with what I saw. This is a really violent Film and at least one scene which is completely disturbing.

Anthony Wong plays a really convincing madman and he really makes this Film, The Police were either idiots or brutal, never really explained why The Captain kept on bringing Hookers to work.

It was a well made Film but make sure you're not watching it with anyone squimish. Certainly one for the Hardcores

One Crazy Summer

1986 Film which sees John Cusack and a friend go on vacation before going to College and whilst on the way, they hook up with Demi Moore who is trying to save her Grandparents House from a greedy Developer. Bobcat Goldthwait co-stars in a zany Movie whilst not the greatest in the world, it would fill the need for a throwaway non-violent no-brainer easy to watch Film.

Night Of The Sorcerers. 1974.

This has a lot of the right ingredients for a good movie but sadly it falls well sort of putting everything together and turning it into something memorable. Good star cast, good setting, good plot and a great director but this just seemed to fail, it does have the hallmarks of being a good euro-sleazy horror, right at the start we are given a small not too gory treat and then a few years later a expedition arrives and then all hell breaks out. Anyone that is use to Amando de Ossorio's work he intends to use like a slow motion approach that works with zombies, for this film it didn't seem right. I really wanted to enjoy it but maybe another watch of it will make me change my view.
