Zardoz. 1974.

We have a film set in the future where two tribes, one being a band of warriors who live for violence and worship a flying talking stone head called Zardoz while the other who possess immortality and psychic powers. Zed (no not the guy from Police Academy) seems to be taken aback by the violence and joins the peace loving tribe.

John Boorman did bring alot to his films with violence especially in the 1972 film Deliverance but the violence in this is toned down and some scenes of nudity is involved. Sean Connery plays Zed in his red attire that may be the inspiration for the "Mankini", it seems he has got plenty space for his junk. The first 30 mins of the film is interesting and built up well then slowly slides off the rails then back on again for a good finale and i did try to get the jest of the film, is it one man trying to figure out some form of truth about life and civilisation??

Filmed in Ireland, Boorman and Geoffrey Unsworth do try to capture every part of the outside shots and add in Ludwig Van Beethoven's Symphony number 7 is a nice little touch to the film. Certainly is a strange film to watch but also a strange one to enjoy at the same time.

I do wonder if 88 Films pulled a VIPCO and changed the title, whether it would have got passed?

American Mary

A financially struggling Medical Student whilst interviewing for a job at a Strip Club ends up making money for making sure that someone being beaten by the owner doesn't die. However after being Raped by her Professor, she gets her revenge by doing lots of Body Modifications on him. Afterwards she becomes a Surgeon for people who want Modifications whilst fending off an Investigation.

Directed by The Soska Sisters (Who were quite scary for their scenes) what could have been a cheap, nasty, grindhouse type of Movie is indeed a Film done with a lot of care and looks like it's done by a more mainstream Director, whist delivering what you want. A very decent watch.

This Is Spinal Tap

Funny Mockumentary based on a British Rock Band who is touring America but a lot of mishaps happen along the way such as someone trapped in a Pod along with a model of Stone Henge being very small. I was expecting a scene during the record signing that they had either black or blue pens.

Showgirls 2: Pennys From Heaven (2011)

Excreta.
Made in someone's kitchen, this tale as old as time was fascinating to watch in one way, but as entertainment it fails on every level except masochism. Line up neatly at the back there ....

Seed 2 (2014)

Yes, remember this one? The hammer scene?? NO???
Ahem. We meet our idiots, they follow the script, er, map to their doom ... like the last it has some ... unpleasantness, but either the demon is getting a bit desensitized or they went overboard with the editing ahem. Fun night

The Ghost Galleon. 1974.

Third part of the "Blind Dead" Trilogy and this onne always stands out to me as it kind of reminded me of The Fog, with a small boat out in the middle of nowhere and sighting of another boat being out there shrouded in fog. The feel of claustrophobia does come with the film as does some cheesey dialogue, but hey it's the 70's and the film is dubbed over with probably added in lines to make it look daft. The setting of the Galleon does have a vibe of looking fake but consider the low budget the film was given and does to end to be the least favourite of the trilogy I still enjoyed it.

Just had a look, Night Of The Seagulls, sounds interesting and probably better than Zombi 5: Killing Birds
